When does 2nd trimester begin

I was under the impression 13 weeks, but the bump told me 14 weeks. Wha??? I was excited to announce today that I was in the 2nd trimester along with ALL of my September 2015 due date gals.  What a bummer. Anyway.

One of my doctors told me 12 weeks is on the early side, but that 13 weeks was what most considered.

  • My pregnancy journal had 13 as the first week of the 2nd tri so i went with that bc i wanted it to be over haha. .i know some ppl say week 14 though
  • I'm 13 and the Bump is telling me that this is the last week of my first. No clue.
  • It depends on the doc/app/book. Some will say 12, others 13, or 14. My doc goes by 14 for second and 28for theirs because is is a more even split (and easy to remember).
  • I thought it was 13 but this app said 14. I stuck with 14 when saying I was in my second trimester.
  • I'm in my 13 week and I'm up around 9 lbs I think... Kinda fluctuates. I feel gross tho and I'm eating 80 percent carbs

My doctor refers to the end of the 12th week as an important milestone; my friends consider the end of the 12th the end of the 1st trimester; 1/3 of 40 weeks leaves you with a 13 week and 3 day first trimester; and most apps consider the first trimester through the end of 13 weeks (the 1st day of 14 weeks being the beginning of month 4). Get it together, world! Lol
  • I read 14 weeks is officially the second tri. Loads of sites say different things. Confusing.com lol
  • I always think of the first day of the 2nd as the 13 weeks, 4 days!
  • Divide your 40 week pregnancy into 3 trimesters, and your first trimester ends at 13.3333 weeks. That first chart in the responses is what my doctor goes off of. Doctors typically use week 14 as the start of your second trimester. Congrats on baby!!!
