clomid, IUI cycle 1

Hi everyone,
I was hoping to get some advice on what to expect, has anyone had good luck on their first try?
Here's a little about my situation. I'm 29 years old, I have regular 27 day cycles & do ovulate on my own. We've been trying to conceive for a few years now with no success. Both have been tested & don't have any real indicators as to why we aren't conceiving. My RE put me on 50mg of clomid for CDs 5-9. I didn't experience any crazy symptoms, just a little restlessness at night. I'm now taking OPKs until I get a positive. Then we're headed into the office for an IUI the next morning.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Hello. I'm actually going through the same thing. Some of my levels are low and my egg count is low which is totally scary. Like most I've dreamed about being a mother and now have to go through all of this. I'm 32 and my husband and I have been trying for over a year. We just met with our doctor and are going to do clomid/IUI. I'm nervous because I know it probably won't happen. I feel your pain and hope things work out for you. When are you doing your insemination? Fingers crossed for you!!!

Sounds like me. I was lucky to have my first IUI work and my daughter is now 3 1/2. Good luck!

Hi.. I just had my first IUI. I was on clomid 100 mg. But my DH sperm count was only 1 million with 20% motility and morphology was not good either. They say our only option might be IVF. We have been TTC for more than a year now.

Last month I was on 100mg of clomid. I ended up having a bio-chem preg. this month on 150mg clomid (and it really almost incapacitated me) I had to take at night because the side effects were so intense (crazy killer headaches that within an hour of taking clomid I was in bed). currently 2 follies @20 and estrogen levles over 280 (last month they were at 150 and then dropped to 105) so dr hoping my estrogen levels didn't drop today and we do IUI on Wed.

I hope it works out for you ladies this round!! I had my IUI last Saturday. Now we're in the tww. the IUI wasn't bad at all. Hopefully 1st time's a charm, but if not they want to do more monitoring with ultrasounds & a shot instead of just using the predictor kits.

I had my first IUI last Wednesday. Now the tww! My mind keeps wondering with thoughts such as: I have stomach pains, oh my gosh could that be a sign I'm pregnant. It's amazing how your mind continues to think all these thoughts.....definitely stressful. Hope everyone has success with this. Fingers crossed for you ladies.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you all! 

I had my second IUI over two weeks ago - no AF but I did 2 negative pregnancy tests. I'm going crazy figuring out if I'm testing too early or what makes AF not come. I have all the normal pre-AF symptoms (could be pregnancy symptoms?). Anyone been in the same situation?

Hello ladies, My hubby and I have been TTC for over 1 1/2 years. I've had blood work,an HSG X-ray, a sonohysterogram, and a surgery to remove a polyp. Besides the one polyp all tests have been normal. Hubby's SA came back normal as well; therefore, we find ourselves in the dreaded unexplained infertility category. Last cycle I was on clomid 50mg days 3-7. This cycle, I did clomid 50mg, sonogram on day 12 (4 follicles- 2 mature), trigger shot on day 13, and IUI 24 hours later on day 14. Hubby's sperm count was 48 million post wash with 80% motility. I'm hoping these numbers are good enough and something sticks. I'm finding my emotions to be so up and down. One day I'm very positive and the next I'm convinced it didn't work. How did you all make it through the TWW without going crazy?! Also, has anyone with unexplained infertility had success with IUI? If so, what medications did you use? TIA!

Going through my first round of iui right now. I just finished -100 mg of clomid day 3-7. On Monday I go for a follow up to get a ok for the ovidrel shot in preparation for my first iui. Hoping and praying.

Hi ladies, I had my first iui today. Took 50mg Chlomid days 5-9, day 12 U/S showed 2 follicles on my right ovary at 17mm and 19mm. Ovidrel shot was taken day 13 at 9:30pm while I was at Broadway's The Lion king lol!!! iui was (today) @ around 10:30 am (37 hours after ovidrel) which is cycle day 15.

Procedure was not painful, however I've been feeling major cramps/gas in my stomach the rest of the day.

Oh and we are also unexplained infertility as well. Me 28 and hubby is 31.

@mbkehayas yeah I returned back to work! I googled "after iui cramps" and apparently it is pretty common for about 2 days. I woke up today and have them too. Thinking of calling the doc.

Hi Everyone,

I new to the forum, the 2ww is killing me and forums has been keeping me motivated and well informed.

After 3 years of TTC, DH and I have been seeing a RE for approximately a 1 year.

What i found out over the year, i had endometrisis (3/14) which lead to 3 years of horrible menstrual cycles. After antibiotic treatment, I was told everything should clear up. After about a year of exams of DH and I we still have not recieved a clear explanation for IF.
I was placed on letrozole cycle day 3-7, started opk day 10. Went in for IUI on day 16. P4 done today and 1 week left to test!

After OV I had 3 days of cramping from left ovary and dpiui 4 to today i have been feeling so nauseated, which i believe is really early for it to be a cause related to treatment.

I will keep you all posted once I test.
Please do the same.

I am in the tww as we speak.  Same boat as most of you, 29 with completely unexplained infertility.  We've been trying now for 13 months with nothing but a chemical pregnancy to show for it (and that was June of '14).  I am hoping very much that the IUI was the little push we needed, but this wait has been...just awful.  I have 3 days left to go before I can test (because of the Ovidrel) but I keep feeling cramps and I'm panicking that it's period cramps but I want to be positive...this is so hard.  Anyone have any successes that I can read about?

I had my IUI 14 days ago and planned to wait until a missed period to test but I don't think I can wait anymore. This TWW has been torture!

Well, my doctor said there's a 15% chance each month so I think at least 1 of the ladies in this thread will get pregnant this month !! I have another week till I can test...

I did three natural cycle IUIs with no luck. Did first round of clomid (50 mg) + trigger (ovidrel) last month leading up to IUI (+ prometrium suppositories - also new this cycle), and it seems to have worked! Now at 5w 2d - my first US is a week from today, but had blood tests last week that showed things seemed to be progressing okay.

Congrats leeteecee! Unfortunately my first IUI did not work out for me. I had a BFN in Saturday (14dpiui) and AF showed today. I'm feeling pretty blue.

Congrats leeteecee! That's amazing news! I still have 6 more days of my 2ww, I've only been able to focus because I had family visiting and hubby and I are looking at buying a house...so my focus is on that. 

Lilmissip, I'm sorry. I'm preparing myself to be devastated next week. If you don't mind me asking-what size were your follicles? I'm also always curious on what makes doctors choose cycle days 3-7 rather than 5-9. Is there a difference?

It's nice to hear so many going through the same thing as me. My partner and I decided to start ttc, so no choice but to start with iui and frozen sperm. Turns out at 34 yrs old I am already running out of eggs! This will be our second month ttc. Had ultrasound today, I have two follicles ready to go. So trigger tonight and iui either tomorrow or Thursday depending on blood work. Wish us luck!

Thanks Knottie. Hang in there. I'm hoping the best for you. I had 4 follicles. 2 were around 16 and the others were smaller. From what I've read, I think they should have been bigger. I'm waiting to hear back from the dr to see if we will up the clomid this time.

lilmissip-I have TWO cavalier king charles too btw!  A ruby and blenheim! Yes, I am no doctor, but from what I have read the follicle size should have been bigger. I had 2 at 17mm and 19mm at approximately 930am on a Friday and the doctor didn't want me to trigger for another 36 hours (because she wanted them to grow more) which would have been the next day at around 930pm. Then-they didn't inseminate me for another 36 hours after that! However, I am more so worried mine waited TOO long!

Aww cavaliers are the best! Yeah I'm disappointed because I think those sizes were two small. That was two days before the IUI but I don't know how much they grew during that time. Of course I read about it later and see 20 is ideal :-(

I think my doctor said 1-3mm a day.

Very similar boat for me - I'm going to be 36 in 3 days and we've been trying for a little over a year.  We have a 4.5 year old who we conceived naturally and without problem.  Second time is not the charm, however.  One miscarriage in Dec. of 2013 and since then nothing. It's looking like unexplained infertility.

Did 2 unmedicated IUIs which were unsuccessful. I'm mentally ready to move on to the next level, so I'll be going in for whatever it is they do to get you started on Clomid tomorrow morning! Quite nervous.

This is my first time posting in one of these forums, although I've been reading and learning from them for a while. I'm 35, DH (29) and we've been trying for almost a year without success. We had our first Clomid/IUI cycle last month and it didn't work. I was really bummed about that, but I'm going in for my 2nd IUI on Monday. Hoping this is the one! Good luck to everyone!

Good luck to all you ladies. My first IUI was a BFN. I have started my second round and will get my IUI next Wednesday if it all works out. The first wasn't too bad but I had major cramping like most of you. I am a teacher and so I took the afternoon off and was happy I did. I wish everyone the best of luck as it seems we are all in the same boat.

Hello! My husband and I have done 2 iui's so far with me taking clomid 100mg. We will be doing our 3rd iui next week if all my levels are ok. I had high hopes for the 1st and 2nd iui, but now I'm just scared it's not going to work. But even if it doesn't happen first time still be positive! I am working on my positivity and still hanging on to some hope. My Dr. told me most couples get pregnant within 1-3 iui's and there's no way to say if your chances are higher the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time. It's just an average in what they see in their office. Fingers crossed for everyone and good luck!

Thanks!! Yeah they still have me on 50 mg. they did an ultrasound on cd4, then just had me taking ovulation tests until I got a positive. They schedule the IUI for the next morning.
I have a good feeling about this round. When she did the procedure she said it looked like I was ovulating.

Hey everyone I'm 2 days before  my period is due. I'm pretty sure this cycle didn't work. Have all my typical PMS symptoms...headaches, some cramps, sore breasts...I took a pregnancy test (yesterday) which was 10dpiu and it was negative.

I was supposed to go to the doctors tomorrow to get my trigger shot if I didn't get my surge, but I just got my surge this morning, so I'm doing my IUI tomorrow without trigger. Anyone know if that makes my chances worse because I ovulated without the trigger shot?

I went in for my 12 day scan today. I had one follie at 17mm and two at 22. They gave me the trigger shot at 1pm and I have my IUI tomorrow at 9am. I'm nervous because that's less than 24 hours. I'm hoping 2nd time is the charm! Hope everyone is doing well.

That sounds much more promising than your first iui! How many mg of clomid are you on? I'm on day 2 of clomid

I am at 50mg days 5-9 still! I would be so happy to get 3 juicy ones like you this month! U/S is this Thursday I believe!
