Help! Cough remedies!?!

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and was sick about 2 weeks ago with an ear infection and a horrible cough and cold and also lost my voice. Nothing helped my cough. I was on antibiotics for 10 days for the infection and took benylin but it didn't help with the cough. Tried cough drops and Vick's and lemon and honey and still couldn't not control the cough. Now I'm sick again with a hacking cough and cold and I'm desperate for a remedy that will work. Anyone know something that can help?

  • Agave syrup & hot water worked for me.

  • I'm going through pneumonia right now and antibiotics aren't working.

Someone told me pineapple juice and it helped the most of everything.

I am in your same shoes though, nothing is working. I've already been in the hospital for not being able to breathe and everything.

    Hoping you get better!
  • I've been in the same boat and miserable! I just had a breathing treatment and my doctor prescribed me 2 inhalers. One is a steroid inhaler. Seems to be helping a little bit. I hope you feel better! Being sick and coughing non-stop is no fun!! I have had the cough since February! Desperate to get rid of it
  • I was in the same boat and this worked the first day. Three days later I am completely better.

Garlic milk. There are various recipes online but what I did was take three garlic cloves and smash them with a fork I added 1 cup of milk and boiled it on the stove for a few minutes until the garlic started to turn clear. You have to stir it frequently. I did this for three days in a row and it really does work and although it sounds gross it tasted good!
  • Jolly Ranchers have helped mine a lot (all of the menthol cough drops just made it worse!). Thank goodness I passed that glucose test...

  • ok so this is a old remedy or maybe just a Hispanic thing, but my mom used to put vicks on our chest, warm a piece of paper towel on the stove or with an iron and put it on our chest. I do that with my daughter along with a tablespoon of cod liver oil and it seems to help. I've also read online, to put a mix of olive oil and any of those scented oils and rub them on the bottom of your feet at night with some socks on. If all else fails, I know my doctor told me that Rubitussum DM can be taken during pregnancy, I know that helped me a lot when I got sick during my first pregnancy.
