Baby's position affect movements?

Curious as to whether or not baby position changes the amount of movements. The past couple weeks his kicks have really decreased, I assumed it was because he was breech. I get weekly US's and two in a row he was breech. Well Friday I had another US and now he is transverse but still not kicking as strong as he was before he'd flipped. I still feel movements regularly, just not strong ones. And baby is doing fine, so that's not a concern. I'm 30 weeks, so maybe he's just running out of room?
Anyone else in a similar situation?

Also I should add this is my 3rd PG so I'm also comparing to how much I remember PP movements.

It definitely can change with position, especially if your placenta is in the front. This is my third, and the movements are so different than my other two.

  • I'm not sure where my placenta is. It's never come up during an appointment and I haven't thought to ask. It was crazy going from such an active baby to barely feeling little punches and swishes.
  • My LO is currently breech, and I have an anterior placenta. I never usually feel strong kicks. I do still feel him moving around, along with subtle kicks. I think it all depends on the position of your baby and placenta. All babies are different too! Some are more mellow than others. Just voice your concerns with you OB. He can always do an U/S to make sure everything is okay.
  • I'm 34 weeks, last week he dropped low, I could feel it because it's harder for me to move now and I feel lots of pressure on my pelvis. Since then, his movement decreased and when he kicks it's not as strong as it used to be. I have regular NST's so I know he is fine, but the decrease in movement is because he doesn't have as much space now.
  • My baby's movements have slowed down a lot in the past week. I'm 33w 4d. The books I've been reading say it's perfectly normal because she is running out of room and there is less and less amniotic fluid the further along you get. I wouldn't worry too much just bring it up at your next ob appointment.
