2nd trimester nose bleed?

i know I'm being a worry wart, but I need to ask...has anyone had a spontaneous nose bleed?

This morning I got up to throw up (nothing unusual there) and while I was vomiting my nose started to bleed. Sometimes I get a bloody nose when I blow it, but I hadn't done that for a couple hours so I'm not sure what triggered it....has anyone had this happen to them?

Re: 2nd trimester nose bleed?

  • Oh yes! Perfectly normal in fact it's under the list of things to expect in the second trimester. We can thank the hormones once again it does something to the membranes in our nose I guess. I have been dealing with super dry stuffy noses and the past few days bloody noses too. Good times!

  • That's reassuring, thanks! Now I have a new symptom to enjoy :)
  • Yes, had them later in my first trimester. Using saline nasal spray and a humidifier helped greatly. They've subsided but I still get dry mouth a lot.

I'm so glad someone else bought this up I'm 14wks 6days & by gosh the last few days I've been getting nosebleeds. Total pain in the butt but yes it is normal. I never experienced this with my other 2 pregnancies so anther new thing I'm having to deal with. Oh the joys lol :)

Edited because I put noise bleeds instead of nosebleeds lol..

I never ever get nosebleeds. Except maybe once or twice during a pregnancy. The joys keep adding up lol. :)

  • I'm the same @WDDCH I never normally suffer with nosebleeds..
  • I've had a 2nd trimester nosebleed, too. I hadn't had one since I was a kid. My doctor said it's a pregnancy symptom for some people and no big deal unless it bleeds excessively for over 20 minutes or so.
  • My nosebleeds started at about week 11 and have been going strong since.

Spoke with my dr. about it yesterday and she said it's perfectly normal. The blood vessels in your nose are starting to expand so they rupture a lot easier.

Super excited about this, especially with allergy season right around the corner haha
