Pinching on one side

Hi mommies! Congratulations! I was wondering if any of you have felt a punching or pulling feeling on one specific side during the early pregnancy process? I have my first appointment on Tuesday and called the nurse beforehand to ask her. She said everyone's bodies are different but of course you always worry about ectopic. Can anyone relate?!

Re: Pinching on one side

  • Pinching and pulling is normal, along with mild cramping. I can't say I've ever felt it just on one side though.

  • I guess I'll have to wait and see. :( Thanks for your reply!

I think pinching is probably normal most of the time. I certainly had pinching with my ectopic but it progressively got worse and worse until my tube ruptured. I remember feeling an odd stinging feeling in my right tube a full week before and briefly thought, "that was weird. I'll be d****ed if it's not ectopic!". Just had some intuition I guess. It was such a weird sensation. No other signs until the day it ruptured.

This pregnancy was extremely high risk for another ectopic and I only have my left tube. I felt pinching on my right side early on but obviously with no tube it didn't worry me. Then for about 2 days leading up to my confirmation ultrasound at 5w1d I felt pinching on my left side only. I'm pretty sure it was paranoia now that it's been confirmed not to be in my tube. But the more I thought about it the stronger it felt and it was all I could think about!

We can play cruel tricks in ourselves when we are worried. There are no guarantees but I don't think you should be worried about an ectopic unless the pinching gets worse. Hang in there!

  • I was convinced I was having an ectopic pregnancy until I went in at 6 weeks for an ultrasound. I was, and still do, really only have tugging, pinching and tightness on my left side. But the baby is right where it's supposed to be! I thought I was the only one having this issue, but please know it doesn't mean it's ectopic. Good luck to you!
  • I am feeling like a torn muscle kinda feeling or maybe tugging lol on my right side as well. Only acts up when I'm tossing and turning in bed so your not alone
  • I was feeling pinches on one side, but I had an ultrasound yesterday and the baby's right where it should be. (They moved up my u/s because I was having UTI symptoms -- I didn't get it because of the pinches.)
