Trouble TTC

Introducing myself-Femara +Ovidrel

Hello everyone,
Bith DH and I are 30 and have been TTC for over 18 months now. Luckily, our family doctor was quick to refer to RE, but we found out along the way I had other health issues, all liver and gallbladder related. I recently had my gallbladder removed as my RE wouldn't start treatment as long as that isssue wasn't figured out.
I have no formal diagnosis other than immature follies (1 at 14mm during investigative cycle) and thin lining. We just went through our first month of Femera and Ovidre, and got a BFN. Now starting cycle 2 of 3 or max 4 of the same.
I've noticed that Inhave very little EWCM and have mentionned it to two of the too many nurses I see when I get BW and US, asking whether we may be better off with IUI rather than TI. The answer I got both times is 'we don't care about CM, that's not what we base ourselves on to go into IUI. My feeling is to ask for IUI if we have to get to cycle #4. What is your experience with TI vs IUI?
Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Re: Introducing myself-Femara +Ovidrel

  • Hi. I'm not an expert on any of this, but have you tried using Pre-Seed? You can buy it at Target and maybe even Walgreens or CVS in the lubricant section. It's specially designed to be fertility/sperm friendly and to mimic the perfect CM we are all looking for. I was never really aware of what CM had to do with anything until we started our journey here and we have been using that along with other things "just in case".

So far we've only done 1 round with  TI (clomid and ovidrel) and haven't gotten to the end of the TWW yet. But I think that moving to IUI needs to be a personal choice. We started with TI because it felt the most natural out of all our options (that and it was much cheaper), but I know there will come a time when we will give up a small piece of that "natural-ness" and go with IUI...Currently for me personally I would think Cycle 3 or 4. Though I will probably have my DH have a new SA just for safe measure next cycle if need be.
Good luck. Keep us updated (if you'd like). :)

  • Hi! Yes, we've been using Pre-Seed, which my DH hates...he's just going to have to deal with it for now ;) At this point (24 cycles of trying, 2nd with meds), I'm willing to let go of some of the naturalness so I'd be willing to go the IUI route despite the price just to save my sanity.
Seems like we're in the same boat. We're in our second cycle right now, and this week is my picking and probing week..US and BW every day til they tell me to take my Ovidrel shot. Fingers crossed for good follies and lining! Good luck to you too! TWW is awful, but I hope you get a BFP!
  • Good day everyone, I am Ngiphiwe

DH and I have been TTC for 4 years now, 3yrs back we had a miscarriage and that was my first pregnancy. I have been on 3 cycles of clomid with no success, this frustrated me and I decided to stop on the 3rd cycle. last month i went back to my gynae and knowing my history he decided to start me with Femara (during periods on day 3 - 7)

My period was on the 16th Feb 2015 and  I started Femara on the 18th until the 22 feb 2015. My ovulation day was around the 2nd of march 2015. I was due for another period this month on the 15 or 16 but it never came and now I am a week late. Last night I noticed that i have liquid coming out of my breasts when pressed a little, and I pee a lot.

I am afraid of taking the pregnancy test just yet, because i don't wanna be disappointed again.

When do you ladies think its the perfect time for me to do the test, should I wait for me to see next month if I dont have my period again and maybe I can do then ?

    Please advice.

  • Hello Ngiphiwe!

Are you on any sort of other drug that might cause false symptoms (progesterone maybe?) or did you take a trigger shot to induce ovulation? If the only thing you took this cycle is Femara and you are now a week late, then it might be a BFP. Only one way to know though. If you don't trust the FRER call and as your doctor for a blood test. Good luck.

  • Agreed with the blood test. My RE schedules one two weeks after my Ovidrel shot because you want to make sure you never get on another cycle of Femara if you are pregnant.
    Best of luck to you!
On my end my response to Femara is quite good this cycle (CD 10: one at 17mm and one 19mm on the right, and a 10mm on the left). Back for US and BW tomorrow morning (and every morning until they detect my LH surge and tell me to take the Ovidrel). My RE has also agreed to put me on Prometrium for thin lining and spotting days before AF. Not looking forward to the possible side effects, but fingers crossed!
