Hey! I was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 months ago and we are currently TTC. I have been on Metformin and Prenatal vitamins since March 6. I am now in my "fertile" window. This is the first time I have ever used a OPK and was wondering if anyone with PCOS found it helpful/ successful or just a waste of time? I am kinda on the fence about it now and was just wanting some reviews other than the ones on the side of the box! Thanks
Hi there! I was diagnosed in 2010 with PCOS. I have very regular cycles and have been able to pick up LH surges using OPKs. Are your cycles regular? I think that can make a difference in whether or not OPKs will be helpful or not.
@tiffk10 yes they have always been regular give or take a day or so, I have never skipped a period. The OPK i have is also very confusing to me, if i ever need to use a kit again i'll get the digital kind!
They can be difficult to read. I used a digital this month that was supposed to give me a low, high and peak reading (was hoping it would help with timing) but I never receiving a high reading. I went straight from low to peak.
@tiffk10 do you also track your BBT? i have a hard time remembering to do that, I have done really good keeping up with and tracking everything except my temp.
@courtL13 I took a break from temping the last two months. But I have tracked in the past and my positive OPKs always lined up with my chart. If I got 2 days worth of positive surges I ovulated on the second day according to my chart. If I only had a one day surge I usually confirmed for the next day but occasionally the same day as the surge.
I have PCOS and have been using the digital OPK's for several months now. I also do temping (to confirm ovulation). On my first cycle of OPK's and temping, I had 8 days of High Fertility (flashing smiley face), then the Peak Fertility (solid smiley face), and two days later had my temp rise, showing ovulation. The next cycle I had 8 days of High Fertility again, followed by Peak, but didn't get the temp rise until 8 days later. My last cycle had 11 days of High Fertility, then Peak Fertility, but no temp rise (AF came a week later). So obviously my hormones are all over the place and the Peak Fertility doesn't always mean something. I think it's worth trying them for awhile but also do temping so you can confirm if ovulation actually did occur. Good luck!
