When to worry about BH?

I haven't been keeping a super close eye on them but I know for the past 2 hours I've had them every few minutes. I'm not really hurting any. Besides my legs, and my lower back has been hurting me all day. I don't want to call the dr/l&d nurses and them tell me to come in and then wind up going in for nothing -_- last week I went in because I was leaking clear fluid and it turned out it was just really thin discharge that only looked clear. I had 2 mini contractions(that I didn't feel) but the nurse told me that it was normal. I'm just confused. I don't want to not worry and something be going on, but I don't want to call and then go in for nothing.

Re: When to worry about BH?

  • Most common cause is dehydration. Drink a lot fluids and rest and they should go away. Real contractions will follow true pattern or rhythm and will not occur at random intervals. They are also much more intense than BH. Though I will say I have BH that are quite painful but only when I am being active and exerting myself. If I were you I'd hydrate and lie down but if you are really worried its better to call and be safe and embarrassed than not call and miss something serious.

  • My doctor just told me that if you drink a lot of water and maybe try taking a bath or heating pad if they are still bad and lasting a long time then I should call. Like the girl before me said dehydration is probably the main cause
  • Usually if you have 5 or more contractions in an hour you should go to the hospital. Also, if drinking fluids or laying down doesn't help just go in. It should be ok for you to check in with L&D just to be safe. If anything give them a call and see what the nurses say. My hospital is really good about that and they always tell me to check in with them if I have any worries whatsoever.
