Please, please don't let them put ice cream on the list of things pregnant women can't have!!

Re: Ice Cream

  • Technically soft serve is already on that list...it's all in moderation and random outbreaks

  • Noooo... good thing it looks like it's just products produced by that one machine! I never buy Blue Bell products anyway - I'm a Friendly's/Hersheys/Ben&Jerrys girl :)

  • We aren't supposed to have soft serve? I hadn't heard that one. I might pretend that I still haven't. ;)

I'm just glad this didn't include their normal ice cream. So delicious!

  • Nah, nah, nah! Plugging my ears, shaking my head... Feigning ignorance to soft serve statements. ;-)

  • Shopping today and saw a health recall on Breyers ice cream as well!!
  • I was told because the machines don't get cleaned throughly and as often as they should they grow bacteria that can be dangerous this includes froyo...i haven't complied the whole time but it's all about moderation

It's really not about moderation, though. Not picking on you, @MCRM14, but I've seen this comment a lot around the board. It's different from alcohol, mercury, other toxins, or paint fumes, where it has to build up and so moderation does matter. One bite of contaminated food is enough. So, you might feel better only taking the chance every once in a while (except obviously these outbreaks keep showing up in unexpected places, so you don't even really know when you're taking a risk), but each time you take the risk it's a yes/no situation. It's just not the same as saying that you'll be OK as long as you only eat X, Y, or Z once a week. Odds are you will be, of course, but . . . I don't know, maybe it's more of a semantic distinction!
