8 weeks and gained 5lbs!!!

so discouraged. I know I'm going to gain weight but it's too early to have gained 5lbs! Anyone else gaining early?

Re: 8 weeks and gained 5lbs!!!

  • On the contrary, ive lost over a kg so far.. I try to eat properly, and whenever i can i snack like crazy, but morning sickness is having none if it. Went out to dinner last night, all came out again right before bed. So gutted! Constantly worry that losing isnt good for little jellybean.

  • It's probably mostly water at this point, but also keep in mind your body is making more blood . . .

  • I know I've gained weight, but I didn't weigh myself for a baseline when I found out I was pregnant, and I'm not weighing myself until my first appointment at 12 weeks.  So I have no way of knowing how much I'll have gained in my first trimester.  Do your best to eat well and stay relatively active, feel good about that and ignore the scale!  After stressing over weight gain with my first, that's how I'm going to approach it this time around.
  • I'm 8 weeks and up 4 pounds! I am extremely active and get on the scale every day, even before pregnancy. Maybe our bodies are just preparing a little differently. I have a bit of a body and I swear 3 pounds are in my boobs alone! Not sure if you have a similar body type to mine but I think as long as we keep eating healthy and not rapidly gaining more weight we should be fine! Good luck momma!
  • Thanks everyone. I'm so glad I haven't had morning sickness at all. I guess I'd rather gain a pound or 2 instead of throwing up everyday. I'm trying to remind myself that the weight isn't necessarily fat, there's a lot more fluid in my body now. I'm just going to stick with healthy foods and get more activity in, this should be easier now that the weather is warming up :)
  • I've gained at least 5 pounds but I've also noticed that my weight fluctuates a TON! I'm taking 6-7 pounds from day to day. TMI - but I'm pretty sure it's the constipation. If I'm lucky enough to have a bm, it goes way down.
  • I gained 2lbs in 2 weeks
  • I'm going on 12 wks and have lost 6lbs. I try to eat healthy and I workout. Before pregnancy I would run 3-5 miles then do a 30 min workout. Even though I have lost weight my stomach looks just a tiny bit bloated. But I wouldn't obsess so much about weight. Just eat right and do a little walking. Just don't eat for two. It's a myth you only need about 300 calories extra during pregnancy. With my first I gained about 25 pounds but was active throughout my pregnancy. I hope to stay active with this pregnancy :)
  • My weight goes up and down a lot. it kind of depends how well I slept, what kind of foods I've been eating recently and whether or not I'm constipated. Don't worry to much about it! Just focus on eating clean, drinking tons of water and some excercise when you feel up for it :)
  • I gain about 5 lbs in my first 10 weeks. Part of it is bad diet, part of it lack of exercise (too tired), part of it bloating, and part baby. I try to eat well but only hamburgers and salt and vinegar potato chips have settled my morning sickness. Luckily at 11 weeks my fatigue and morning sickness is less so I can focus on eating better and trying to start up exercising. My better half has gain at least 5 with sympathy eating and napping. Definitely need to get us both back to a more healthy life style.
  • I'm in the same boat :( 5 pounds heavier as well ! But I don't feel like how I have felt when I gained 5 pounds before being pregnant so I'm sure it's more than just fat lol
  • I gained the same. I use to do p90x3 along with protein shakes but I stopped all that when I was pregnant. Number 1 I didn't have the energy and number 2 I wasn't sure about the shake. The dr said its normal especially if you lost weight recently. As long as you are trying to stay active and eating good food then all is good :)
