Baby Names

Girl name

My grandmothers name is Kay (it's also my middle name), she is currently battling cancer and we don't know how many years she will have to enjoy her great grandchildren. I would really love to incorporate her name into my baby girls name somehow. I'm not a huge fan of Kaylee, and have a close friend named Kaela so that's out aswell. I can't think of anymore names that are pretty and not too out there. So I think Kay will end up being a middle name, just thought I'd see if anyone else can think of something before I decide on something else?

Re: Girl name

  • I think your best bet is to honor your grandmother by using Kay as the middle name. There are many names to choose from that can pair well with Kay. Not sure of your style but here are a few different suggestions...

    Allison Kay
    Margaret Kay
    Joanna Kay

    Ella Kay
    Harper Kay
    Violet Kay

    Nora Kay
    Lila Kay
    Eliza Kay

    Sienna Kay
    Jacqueline Kay
    Evelyn Kay

    etc...

I'd use Kay as the middle name too.
  • Kay makes a super strong mn. The only other fn I can come up with is Casey but you would have to butcher the spelling to add Kay, and I don't recommend that.
  • You could name here another K name and have her nickname be Kay, unless that's something your not into.

  • Have you considered Kaylen?  I know a Kaylen Marie, and I've always thought it was pretty name.

I think Kay as the middle name would be your best bet, it's a great strong name for a mn....trying to use it someway as a first looks made up/trendy/trying to hard.
  • Definitely use Kay as the middle name as opposed to making up a name to incorporate it. Evelyn Kay is beautiful.

My only suggestion is to use a nice "K" name (Katherine, Kathleen, etc.) and use Kay as a nickname.

If you don't actually want to CALL her Kay, just use it as a middle name. If Kayla is out, there's really no other good option without making up a name. However, I LOVE Kay as a middle name. My grandmother was named Kate and went by Kay, so I've considered using Kay as a MN myself. It pairs nicely with sooo many names.
