Always Worried

This is my first baby and while I'm over the moon excited, I'm worried ALL THE TIME. Regardless of positive check ups, I can't seem to shake the negative thoughts of everything that could go wrong. Any tips on how to chill out?

Re: Always Worried

  • I recorded baby's heartbeat at our appointment 15 week yesterday so now I can listen to the recording whenever part of me wants to worry.

  • I know how you feel. What I do is every time a negative thought comes to mind is I tell myself to STOP and then list all the positive things I can think of, like, I'm past the first trimester, this is further than I was when I had MC's in the past, the HB has always been strong, the size is just right, no bleeding or cramping, my doctor says he feels confident about my progress, etc etc.
  • I think that's pretty normal. Being pregnant is an awesome, yet vulnerable experience. I remember feeling a sense of relief when my DS was born, not because I was done worrying (I'll always worry about him!), but because I felt like I could share more of the worry with DH. When I was pregnant I felt like it was all on me. My body was responsible for keeping him safe and I was the only one who could feel his movements and possibly know if something was wrong. So I think it's totally normal to worry, but try to focus on the awesome experience and know that the odds of anything going wrong are very low at this point.
  • Totally normal! Try to find something to distract yourself. Its going to be all good!

  • Welcome to parenthood!
It's a default to be worried, you will be worried when the baby will be cold or hungry as well!
This is just a sign you'll be a great mom!!!!
  • Thanks girls! Feeling better already
  • Just wait for the constant worries after baby gets here lol

  • I'm exactly the same the thought that everything is actually ok won't settle with me, suppose you need to think possitive however hard it is an look forward to your healthy baby :)
