Mucus plug question

So this morning I lost my mucus plug or part of it.. It was about the size of a silver dollar and did have a little bit of brownish blood in it. I'm 31 weeks with di di twins and my doctor is having me come in tomorrow to check my fluids, check my cervix, and do a urine culture too. My question, what was your experience with this? And how soon did you have babies after losing your MP?

My mucus plug came out at 35 weeks and I ended up having my babies that night, but I also had contractions and my bp was elevated. Hopefully every looks great and your babies can keep cooking longer! Good luck!

I lost mine on a Wednesday at 31 weeks and had contractions starting that Sunday then babies came the following thurs at 32 weeks
TTC 2 years- Me and DH (28) with (severely) low sperm count- less than 40 total (last 2 SA showed only 5 and 6 sperm each)
    IVF #1: ER 1/23/13- 4 eggs retrieved, 3 eggs fertilized; ET with 1 embryo 1/28/13 2 frosties beta #1 2/5 was 4.8- beta #2 2/7 3.5; BFN
FET #1- transferred one beautiful 4AA embie. Praying this is my take home baby. Beta 5/7/13- BFFN!!!
    IVF #2: ER 7/17/13: 6R/3F- transferred 1 blast and 1 10 cell embryo 5dt.   Beta hell.  #1 2.5, #2 2.2- BFFFN! REALLY?
IVF #3: ER 12/1 and only 2 retrieved.  1 fertilized with ICSI.  Was planning on transferring one fresh and one frozen....fresh was only 14 cells at day 5...CANCELLED and devastated due to 5cm blood filled cyst in ovary and blood in uterus.
IVF #4: Antagonist protocol with endometrial scratch day one of stims.  ER 4/21: 6R/4M/3F- transferred 2 beautiful blasts (5dt) and one was hatching!  No frosties but hoping we won't need it!  Beta 5/4/14- 444(8dp5dt), Beta #2 10dp5dt 1002!  THIS HAS GOT TO BE IT!!!!!!!!!!  First US 5/15 we saw two of the most beautiful gestational and yolk sacs I have ever seen!
    ****FINALLY PREGNANT WITH DI/DI TWINS!!!!!!!

BRINLEY AND RILEY LONG.  Born November 20, 2014 at 32 wks 3 days.  4lbs7oz and 4lbs5oz.  1 month NICU time for "B's" and growing and feeding.  Now healthy, thriving, beautiful little girls!

Ok, I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've been wondering about this and my Dr wasn't very helpful.... How do you know if you're losing your mucus plug? Is it different than the mucus-y discharge that many people have at the end of pregnancy? I'm just wondering if the recent increase in discharge is actually a sign that I'm losing my plug? FTM and one baby is measuring really small at 34.5, so I'm freaked out about trying to keep them in there as long as possible!!

With my twins, I lost mine at 31 weeks and was hospitalized.  My girls were born at 33 weeks, 1 day after I had 2 weeks of hospital bedrest.  I already had complications, so when I called the doctor, he did not hesitate to send me to the hospitalFor my singleton, I lost my plug at 37 weeks and my water broke a few hours later.  So to me, it really is not predictable, but it is definitely worth going to see your doctor.

    *Siggy warning - loss mentioned*
Preemie ID DDs; then DS; then natural M/C; now due 10/17

Doctors didn't see mucus plug as being a big deal at all last week but my waters starting leaking fluid three days later... They held my LOs in there on hospital bedrest for two days but I spiked a fever. They were ready to come out! They were born this past Tuesday at 31.5 weeks. Now I just count down the days until I can take them home!!!

You will know. It plops out and into your toilet like a blob and you can hear it. I suppose if it went on your panties it might be harder to tell.. But it's a clot so it all stays together. I can bet you'll know when you lose it. And don't let your doctors tell you it's nothing! My water broke 3 days after losing my mucus plug. Just be on the look out for labor symptoms after losing it!

Thank you so much for this answer! I don't really know what to look for, so it's reassuring hearing that it's one of those things that "you'll know it when it happens"!

Also, mine was clearish with tinges of dark blood in it. If that helps. Everyone's is different but yes, you'll know! :)
