congestion = vomit/spit up??

DS has a head cold, and he's been spitting up a lot more than usual, and there's usually mucous in it.  Have any of you experienced this?

  • OOOOhhh yeah...DS has bronchiolitis and sometimes is projectile vomiting.  It seems so freakin forceful, I can't even believe it.  I think it's from swallowing the mucus.

  • Yep, the doc said the mucus slides down into their tummy, upsets it, so they spit it back out... It's kinda like a cleaning out process for them, so even though it's gross, it's good that it's all coming up and out! :)
  • DD has a cold with congestion/cough and has been throwing up entire bottles it seems.  I called the nurse helpline to ask them about this and they said that when the baby's tummy is full and they start to cough, the muscles contract so much harder/faster that it forces their food up and out.  So I'm giving her half as much formula twice as often, to give it a chance to settle down and pass through.  So far it's working.  I know it's more than spitting up, but thought I'd tell you just in case!
