Benadryl and Robitussin DM, together?

My nurse had told me that I could use benadryl to help with my insomnia. It seems to be working okay, however, I've got this cold, and they sent me home with a sheet of paper saying I could use Robitussin DM to help with congestion. Is it safe to also use Benadryl at the same time to help me sleep? I've slept all day because of this cold, and now I'm wide awake, and just want to sleep some more. ~X(

My OB says Robitussin is fine but not Benadryl. I wouldn't take them together anyways. Maybe try something natural like melatonin.
