Weaning help

DD is 14 months & hardly eats anything except BM. I'd like to start weaning her but how do I even start when she eats nothing?! I give her food 3-4 times a day but she just picks at things, eats about half a pouch and that's it for the day.
Any tips?

Re: Weaning help

  • Wish I could help I am in the same boat. rd used to eat solids and purees like a champ that all seemed to change When we got teeth. Now all she will eat are puffs, cheerios, yogurt melts. I've considered dropping the breast all together and giving breastmilk bottles at home to see if it will help.

  • Omg meg that's exactly dd's diet!
  • My little lo is 12m he is my 3rd he eats all the above. Try veggie straws, banana in spears, scrambled eggs, rice, Spanish rice, he still nurses all the time more for comfort I think. He dosent like whole milk but I give it at every meal if I warm it a little he try's more
  • Not sure if this helps or not, but with DD # 2, she ate decently, but once we weaned, she has turned into a milk monster, going through 4 to 5 milk bottles a day. She is just drinking whole milk now. I don't know if it is a result of weaning or what, but I swear she eats less actual food now then when she was nursing, which she did mostly for comfort. She just weaned about a month ago and she turns two in a week. I think each child responds differently to the weaning process, and so long as you keep offering food, and milk in a bottle if the child likes bottles, it will make weaning more smooth.
