25 weeks and worried!!

Ok, fellow mom's and mom-to-be's... This momma could really use some advice. For the last two days, I've noticed a change in my discharge from white to slightly brownish color. Then last night after I peed, when I wiped there was light pink on the toilet paper. There's no mucous or anything, and there's no pain or burning. It has happened on and off today after using the bathroom. I've had no cramping or pain. Baby is still moving, and I haven't noticed a decrease at all. The only thing that's happened in the last few days was I did experience some constipation in which I did strain some. I am going to call my midwife first thing in the morning, but I could just use some peace of mind possibly until then. I haven't had any complications (bleeding, pain, or cramping) at all throughout my pregnancy. So, this has me very worried. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this and comment!!

Re: 25 weeks and worried!!

  • I have had the same pattern after straining with bowel movements since the first trimester. Definitely call your doctor/midwife in the AM as they may want to make sure you don't have a low lying placenta or any other potential causes for bleeding. Also, if you are RH- blood type they may want to go ahead and give your RhoGam shot just in case. But hopefully it's nothing more than just a little too much straining!

  • I don't think I would fret about just a little blood, but a quick email to your doctor or nurse couldn't hurt.

  • Glad you are giving your MW a call! I had something similar happen, called my doc, and she said not to worry unless it was actual bleeding. She said some women spot/have pink/brown discharge through their whole pregnancy and it's fine, but she was glad I called anyway bc it was new.
  • If you are sexually active this can be caused by a sensitive cervix. This happened to me early in my pregnancy and the doctor said it was totally normal. Don't panic, call the MW, but babes is most likely perfectly fine :)
