I am trying to decide between Bio Oil and Palmer's Cocoa Butter for preventing or helping vanish stretch marks. Has anyone started using either of these or any other product yet? Let me know what you all think.
Personally, I can't stand the smell of cocoa butter. I've never suffered from stretch marks, but I have used Bio oil for a scar, and dry skin when I was pregnant last time, it worked a treat for both.
Oh I love the smell of cocoa butter. I've never tried bio oil so wanted to get some views on it.. I have heard it works wonders for scars.. I never really got stretch marks with my other pregnancy but I'm sure I can some creeping up..
I agree with cocoa butter being thick.. It's a pain to rub in at times.. Thank you I think I'll be getting the OH to get me some bio oil. No harm in trying
I have both and the only thing that will help with removing stretch marks is time. My stretch marks from my son are significantly lighter but they will get just as dark this pregnancy. Also, you can't prevent stretch marks. They are hereditary and actually start forming below the skin where you can't see. I know, trust me, it SUCKS! Hopefully some more ladies can give you some positive reviews on them. Good luck!
I want something I can have my husband rub on me. Neither bio oil or cocoa butter are like super duper smelling, but cocoa butter seems like the tried and true method.
Any ideas on a better smelling, but still traditional solution?

I wish there was a magic potion to prevent stretch marks. I had heard they were hereditary but just thought it was an old wives tale.
I used both with first pregnancy and doing again this time .. no stretch marks for my first pregnancy i cant say it will prevent them for everyone but in my case it helped
@Sweetpea192 at first I hated them, I was so embarrassed, I always had that flat perfect stomach and the nice curvy body. After I had my son, I realised how much I love them. I don't have the "perfect" figure that I thought I would always have. Instead I had a nicer, fuller stomach, and I have these BEAUTIFUL stretch marks that mean so much to me. Not only do I love them, but my husband loves them. When I would feel down about them, he would say they are beautiful and give each one a kiss. And it was A LOT of kisses.
Double check the ingredients in bio oil first. I'm pretty sure that it has retinol a in there which my ob says is a no no for pregnancy. Also, she warned me that they have seen some heart defects in babies whose moms used cocoa butter while pregnant. I'm sure that millions of women use cocoa butter without any problem, but I just thought I'd pass that info along.
I'm using organic coconut oil, as I was concerned about the cocoa butter possibly containing caffeine that could be absorbed (leading to issues as the poster above stated). It may or may not be an issue, but I would rather not risk it, and I don't like the smell of cocoa butter. Coconut oil works great ... very moisturizing and there's not really a smell. I just rub it on before going to bed.
Organic coconut oil is the best moisturizer and a little goes a long way. I dry scrub my skin before my shower, use moisturizing body wash in a cool shower, and then slather on the coconut oil! Of course staying hydrated with lots of water and gaining weight slow and steady will be the best way to limit stretch marks. Good luck ladies!!
I used bio oil religiously for my first...I got a ton of stretch marks...with my second I got more! This baby I'm going to start using itworks stretch mark cream around 5-6 months to keep them from being SOO sensitive (mine hurt)...but I am also going to rock a bikini and not care what anyone thinks! Lol!
I'm using coconut oil and natural stretch oil by Earthmama Angelbaby, which was recommended to me by my friend who is a doula. She got zero stretch marks, but I know genetics at a huge factor.
I have both, I use palmers massage cream in the tube I've been using it since I was about 5-6 weeks and I have no signs of stretch marks yet. I've heard bio oil works wonders. I will probably start using that when I notice I'm getting stretch marks or start of my 3rd tri good luck! Hannah B
Stretch marks can't be prevented and genetics play a big part of getting them. I have them on my hips, butt, and thighs from when I was a sprinter/jumper in college from putting on a ton of muscle very quickly and my sister had really bad ones with her first (she also gained 75 lbs so I don't think that helped), but mine have faded with time. I'm not using anything yet, but I've heard that both are good for helping with the fading of them after, so is vitamin e (I used to stick them with a pin and rub it on scars when I was a kid), but I don't know about stretch marks.
Re: Bio Oil or Palmers Cocoa Butter

Hope helps :-)
*edited again for stupid predictive text grr
It doesn't smell of anything particular, and absorbs quickly.
Cocoa butter has a very thick consistency i found, not for me.
I guess it's down to personal preference hun, but I'd give it a go, it's pretty cheap to buy :-)
Give it a few weeks, I'm sure you'll be impressed :-) xx

Stretch marks are hereditary.
I've seen far to many of my friends prove this to be true.
Anyway, embrace them ladies, it's natures way of showing your a mama! :-)
