I am currently 22 weeks pregnant, and I find myself worrying about things regularly. Today I can't shake one thing that I stupidly did yesterday. The previous owner of my house left the nursery's walls a mess, and knowing I couldn't spend hours stripping paint, caulking, or painting inside, my husband patiently took the (what was a 20 hour) task on all by himself. While he was working on that, I asked him to take the ugly ceiling fan in the room down for a Pinterest makeover. Appreciative of how hard he was working, I decided to do it myself. I don't know why I didn't google this (and now wish I hadn't afterwards) but I stupidly assumed wearing double surgical masks and spray painting in the middle of the backyard would be taking enough precautions. The whole project was done in about 3 sessions that were 5 minutes each. About two or three times I actually smelled the fumes, quickly changed position, and held the masks closer to my face, but now I am reading about the dangers of having been around the spray paint! Have I caused neurological damage to my baby!?! Should I call my doctor?
Re: Stupidly Used Spray Paint
Latex and water based are ok in limited access, most have lower level chemicals then older paints. But just take precautions when doing anything, or if you're worried then just ask your Dr.
