If you want something sweet, go for fruit instead of candy/cookies. Salty? Pretzels instead of chips or fries.
I can totally relate to wanting to binge eat all the time on food that's junk. I'm not always successful at not giving into the cravings, but surrounding myself with more healthy choices than unhealthy choices has been helpful. Good luck!
Just commiserating with you here! I'm either starving & eating too much or nauseous & sometimes getting sick yet I've managed to pack on 30 lbs! I Think sometimes I eat too much because I'm trying to fend the nausea off. I find the cravings are hard to resist too. I ate healthier before I was pregnant but I've never been super good at resisting cravings! Being pregnant seems to make the cravings even stronger for me at least!
I have a really bad sweet tooth as well. I try to grab sweet fruits like grapes to help with the craving. I do not allow sweets in my house anymore so I'm not tempted (my husband hates this). I'm actually documenting this pregnancy on youtube because I'm trying to manage my weight better during this pregnancy. So far, I think I've done pretty well. Also, I try to focus on drinking a gallon of water a day. That really helps because I'm so focused on trying to get all this water down during the day that I don't have as much time to focus on the cravings that I know are bad for me. If all this doesn't work then I tell myself that I'm a grown woman and I have a say so in what goes in my mouth (not this cookie monster inside me) and I decide how much weight I put on. I usually have to tell myself this 3 times in order to calm down and step away from the ice cream lol.
I am starving all the time at the moment as well. And love the sweets!! I usually not a fruit person but been liking it a bit more lately. I also don't keep sweets in the house unless I am having a junk food day (once or twice a week!). But that doesn't stop me from grabbing a candy item other days when I am out! I tend to eat healthy otherwise. I personally feel like my weight gain doesn't have much to do with what I eat... it is just very random. Sometimes when I eat more, I gain less! I wouldn't worry too much about it, just try to eat somewhat healthy!
I feel like keeping busy is key. Less time you have to think about it the better. My weakness is fruit loops. Cup for breakfast and snack for night. Horrible I know but I am diabetic and I have to measure out what I eat and that prevents me from over doing it or mindlessly munching. Good luck.
I eat and within two hours I'm hungry again! And these damn cravings for almonds with chocolate! I hope this goes away or I'm going to be a whale by the time this is over
As far as salty, thin brown rice cakes have completely taken over for chips. Sounds weird but I find them much more satisfying and completely guilt free because they are an organic whole grain! I still crave baked goods and when fruit doesn't do the trick I either have a bowl of Special K or honey nut Cheerios, or Nutella on whole grain bread. That way some nutrition accompanies the sugar and it's not just empty calories.
I've found if I let myself have one treat a day, then I'm good. I don't really keep a lot of stuff in the house though other than healthy foods/snacks so that helps. I'm guilty of picking up stuff though!
If I am hungry then I will go ahead and snack. I try to snack on fruits and veggies tho, so I don't feel bad about eating all the time. An orange, a mango, pb and banana sammich, steamed broccoli. That kind of stuff. I allow myself my craving of cinnamon toast crunch cereal for breakfast, and I allow myself something sweet and junky like ice cream or cookies towards the end of the day, but try not to have those types of things to eat otherwise.
I'm the same... Hungry all of the time and all I want is junk. I know it's not great but I've been eating a bowl of cereal when I have a major sweet craving. Special K protein flakes are slightly sweetened and filling. If that's not sweet enough then I go for Cheerios and add a little dark chocolate syrup. Yum!
I probably have one sweet each day (cake, ice cream cone, piece of chocolate) I know it's horrible but I can't stop either. At first I craved salty foods and now it's switched over. If you find out how to resist let me know!!!!!!
Totally understand. I ate pretty well before I got pregnant, now all I want is sugar and carbs! At my 25 wk check up Doc said blood pressure was a little high and I have put on almost 30 pounds, however, she said I still looked healthy. I feel the extra weight though and I don't like it. What I did is I bought frozen fruit and cut up veggies for smoothies. I have a little veggie &/or fruit smoothie with a hard boiled egg and that seems to help and it's healthy. Another healthy snack is hummus and veggies or nuts. I do let myself have a little something sweet though, if I completely deprive myself I am afraid I will lose it.
