What does this all mean?

I had my 36 week visit yesterday and was checked for dilation. I had preterm labor at 34 weeks, was barely dilated at all then but contracting every two minutes for ten minute stretches.
At my visit yesterday, my midwife was surprised to find me at 4cm 80% effaced and a -1 station (I believe, I forgot to write that down lol) She said she would expect me to go into labor within the next week or two. I've had people tell me different things and this and that. I was just curious what everyone thought about this. This is my first pregnancy and I have no idea if I should be expecting to deliver in the next two weeks like my midwife expects, or expecting to go full term like others have said after scoffing at my midwife for checking me.

No one can give you an answer. Everyone's body will react differently. In my second pregnancy I walked around 3cm dilated from 35 weeks. I still didn't go into labor till past my due date. It really depends on each person, someone people aren't dilated at all, and dilate and go straight into labor.

I was 5 cm for a whole week.  Everyone one is just so different.  Good Luck!

Everyone is different! I had a friend who was 4cm dilated from 35 weeks to 39 weeks. They ended up striping her membranes and then I believe that took a full day or two before she went into labor. Good luck! I know it is easier said then done...but try to relax and enjoy your last weeks.
