Scared!

i went to my appointment today and the baby's heartbeat was 190 I'm still lost as to why it was this high. Now I'm scared something is wrong, they did a stress test and everything was normal. But it worries me due to the fact I have never had that high of heartbeat with any of my other pregnancies and I lost one at 22 weeks.

Did you ask your doctor? Was your doctor concerned about the heart rate? Seems like something you should have discussed with them to alleviate your concerns.

Did the doctor give you an explanation as to why it would be so high?

190 is high and I'd be scared too. But, 180 is in the normal range and that's not too far off from 190. The stress test was normal and that's your biggest indicator. That's telling you how baby is doing in there. So try to take comfort in that. Also, do your best to take deep breaths and let your body do as much relaxing as you can- your baby needs to feel you relaxed, even if you can't because you're worried.

Normal FHR range is 110-160, but they can have brief accelerations (less than 10 mins) in their heart rates which are a reassuring aspect of a FHR tracing.

I was rotating thru doctors and wasn't seeing my primary. For some reason I felt really uncomfortable with this one. The doctors blamed it on me smoking. But it has never affected it before. I'm calling my primary doctor to see what he thinks in the morning.

Uh yeah, smoking will negatively affect your child in many ways, during pregnancy, birth, and throughout his or her life. From small birth weight to frequent ear infections, expect lots of issues.

i totally agree. Smoking is def a pregnancy no no. I know for a fact about asthma and reoccurring ear infections from when my mom smoked when i was a kid.
