30 week appointment

Mine is next week and I'm just wondering what to expect since I forgot to ask. Ladies, if you want to give your latest appointment update go for it! My last appt I heard the heart beat and was measuring right on track.

  • I'm 29 weeks and still haven't had my belly measured. Is it normal for this not to be a common practice.?
  • They measured my belly listened to the hr, checked my Bloos pressure for the normal part. I also had an ultra sound but i am high risk. He was 3 and a half pounds and right on track! They also said I can try for natural birth! Good luck at your apt!
  • This Friday I will have my 32 week appt (EDD 5/1/15).  Everything has been pretty normal/routine every two weeks. Weight, urine sample, baby's heartbeat, measure the uterus with a tape measure and then time for any questions.  Since everything is going to normally/smoothly, I really don't have a lot of questions even though I am a FTM!  They never comment on the measurement (since it is all just a basic estimate anyway I presume?).  In a month, at 36 weeks, the weekly appointments will start.

Taking a breastfeeding class tonight at the hospital and a childbirth prep class in a few weeks so I expect to learn a lot in those.  Also reading numerous books on natural childbirth.

I just can't wait to meet this little girl!  Third trimester is starting to feel rough!!! No appetite, food aversions, HEARTBURN, no sleep, uncomfortable. BLAHH!

    Rant over :)

  • Mine are always the same - BP, urine and heartbeat. However, I got a scan at 30w so that was nice :)
  • The only thing different for me is getting a dTap vaccine. The Dr. said they are doing this now at this appt to provide immunity from purtessis (whooping cough) to the baby.
  • I think you can also get a prescription for a breast pump at 30W so that insurance will cover some or all of it.

Just got mine yesterday and it left a knot in my arm and it's sooo sore!
  • I just had an appt at 29 weeks, I guess I'm slightly off schedule for my monthly visits. I took the one-hour oral glucose tolerance test and also had additional blood work testing for iron levels and a complete blood count. Plus the usual: pee in a cup, vitals, fundal height, and heartbeat via Doppler. Oh, I was also given info on signing up for a hospital tour.
