Julian or Julien

Hi ladies,

You have all been so helpful for in the past with my name dilemmas. We are having boy girl twins in May and have chosen to go with Julian/ Julien Cruz and Annika Summer.

My question is how would you spell Julian? With an A or with an E? Thanks

Julian, I've never seen it spelled with an e before.

I'm not sure your ethnic background but Julien is the French spelling. But I see you have Cruz (Spanish) and Annika (Scandinavian/German) so maybe that's ok.

I'm British and my husband is Portuguese but grew up in Montreal Canada so he likes the French spelling. I'm concerned with my son always having to correct people if it's spelled with an E since Julian with an A seems to be the norm.

We are considering Julian for a MN. We considered both spellings, but chose the A spelling because it seems to be more common in the U.S. and because the French spelling could also be pronounced differently:

I like Julien...but then again, I also prefer Catherine over Katherine.

Canadian here who likes the E. I taught a Julian once and spelled his name wrong for the first while. Both are fine so choose what you prefer but consider what is the "norm" in yor area too

The e makes me think of the food chopping way, but I think that's julienne.

Julian! thats my little brother's name

I like the French version with the e. That's how my uncle in Belgium spells his name so I'm kinda partial. I also think it goes better with Annika.
