2nd Child Fears

I am beyond excited to have another child, BUT I am also totally freaked out. We have been a family of 3 for almost 5 years now. All of my attention has been on my son, how do I share my time between 2 kids?! I don't want my son to feel short changed- he has been our one and only, you know?! Are these normal fears for a second time around Mom? What are your fears?

I think it's totally normal to have those fears. My son will be almost 5 when baby #2 is born, so he has been our focus for a long time. He has been asking/praying for a baby brother or sister for 2 years though, so I think that fact that he is really excited has helped. Also, I know from talking to other moms that the love just multiplies and there is enough for 2! I keep thinking that it will be a lot easier on him now that he is more self sufficient than if we had two kids close together like we had planned if IF had not changed things for us.

I share the same concern especially since there are two newborns headed my way. I'm focused on getting DD excited now with books about being a big sister and talking with her about the babies. DH and I plan to set time aside just for her after the babies arrive - like daddy daughter trip to the zoo etc where the focus will be 100% on her.

My biggest fear right now is the reality of two newborns. I recall the sleep deprivation and early challenges with one and now there will two. Headed to my first Moms of Multiples club meeting tomorrow and hoping for lots of good advice from moms who have been in the trenches already.

I'm also worried. My DD currently cries when DH or myself hold another baby. My biggest fear (which I hope is totally irrational) is that she will bond so much with DH once the new baby comes that she will want nothing to do with me

We will also do a lot of 1X1 activities with her so she gets plenty of alone time. I am thrilled to give her a sibling but at the same time feel awful that I am rocking her sweet little world like this.

I worry about that too! lol- My son is attached at the hip to me. He loves his daddy too of course, but chooses me over him all the time! I secretly don't want to loose that... Ha!

I definitely think it's normal and am somewhat worried about this too. DS (he'll be 3 soon) also doesn't like me holding other babies and will try to climb all over me. He makes sure he lets the kids at daycare know "that's MY mommy!" I know that's normal, but..... He's soooo excited though about getting a baby brother. He says he's going to feed him, give him baths, change his diapers, sing him lullabyes, etc all by himself. He asked me today who's baby brother's mommy is going to be. I also definitely plan on doing plenty of one on one things with him so he has plenty of my attention. I think it might go better than expected.
