Humping!

Well something like it! I HATE using the word or phrase to discuss this but I can't think of any other ones to use. However since my daughter has been able to walk now roughly a month she will lay on her belly and hump the floor. At first we thought it was because she was tired or hungry both of which the pediatrician said may be the cause. She also said its self soothing. Well I can't deal with it anymore. I hate that she even does it. Has anyone else had the same or similar issue? I'd love some help or feedback. I'm so embarrassed...

Re: Humping!

  • C humps the air when she's standing sometimes; it's weird and kind of funny. I don't think there is anything you can do; they are probably discovering how to work different parts of their bodies.

  • I've heard of this before and I agree with @kkaew816 that she's probably just figuring out her body. I read somewhere, maybe baby 411, that some babies even "ride" (ew that sounds awful) the highchairs at restaurants.
I have no suggestions, but I just wanted you to know that it's totally normal.
  • I agree that there's really nothing you can do. I'm sure it's a phase and it will pass and she will move on to the next new thing before you know it!
  • OK...thank you for making me feel better. I've been around a ton of kids and have never seen or heard of this before. I try my best to pick her up and distract her but its easier said than done sometimes. Ugh!
