Allergy ring?

Dr. Google has me worrying again. Anyone have experience with allergy ring?

I noticed that my baby has red irritation around his anus. It's not terrible, and it doesn't really seem to bother him. I've been applying petroleum jelly the last couple days but haven't noticed an improvement.

I was googling diaper rash cream to make sure it's ok to use on a 2 week old baby and I stumbled across allergy ring. The pictures I googled (tragic error?) are much more severe than what my baby has, so I don't know if I'm overreacting or if it's just in the early stages.

How do I know if I'm eating something that's bothering him? (I'm nursing) The last few days he's been kind of fussy during some nursing sessions and will regularly push me away. I don't know if this is normal or another sign of allergy.

I feel like I've been running to call the doctor for every little thing and I don't want them to think I'm crazy. Also my husband had anxiety so I know if I tell him I think it's an allergy he'll fixate on it. So I want to do a little more research before I worry him.

Any STMs have any experience with this?

I'm a FTM and FF but, my lo experienced some redness on his butt and at the hospital they used petroleum jelly, now I use A&D. Seemed to bring the redness down, I stopped using for two days and it's coming back. I hate the smell of it, but it creates a liquid resistant barrier on his butt. It soothes him instantly.

Now I don't know if they are experiencing the same redness, but hoped this helped a little. Hope LO gets better!!

Eta: the allergy ring is well caused by a milk/formula allergy. I'm sure you will, but I would also call the pedi.
