baby mesureing big at anatomy scan

So I had my anatomy scan this week and they said that my baby is measuring a lot bigger then he should for how far along I am at 25w 4d he was mesureing at 28w. Yhe dr. Said that he will probably be here in about 10 weeks. Has this happen to anyone else? How did you deal with the stress of worrying you wont be ready for the baby when he gets here?

  • I think we're all worried we won't be ready. Just make sure you have a car seat and know how to use it, a few clothes and some diapers - you'll be fine.

  • I'm having the same issue. At my a/s ultrasound in January I was 19w2d but baby was measuring 19w4d. Which was no big deal. Met with my ob Friday and she is sending me for another ultrasound. I was 26w4d and when she measured my belly she said I'm measuring more than I should. We expect a big baby. All the boys on my boyfriends side of the family were big. And even he was. She told me not to worry she didn't think any thing was wrong just wanted to get his measurements again and she what the new due date would be. Said he's just a fast developer. All my blood work came back and sugar was fine only thing is low iron so they put me on a supplement. So unless the doc seems concerned about it, I really wouldn't stress to much. This is my first and we are just rolling with it, I'm a touch ocd so everything will be ready before the end of April haha
  • He's thinking ill deliver around 35 weeks which is kind of scary its self. But all blood work has been good. I wanna be ready by mid april just in case.

  • My MFM had the same concern. I went for my AS at 19w5d and my little man was measuring at 21w3d. He urged me to do my gestational diabetes test ASAP so I did it at 21 weeks. Everything was normal. You can take this test much earlier than the normal time frame of when most drs order you to do it.
My OB wasn't concerned because there had been a lot of continuing debate about my due date anyhow. My period cycle is 32-35 days instead of the normal 28 so it makes figuring it out harder. We also have to remember that our EDD is an estimation within two weeks either direction. So really it gives us a 4 week window when the baby will come.
  • My 1st was measuring big and I was induced at 37 weeks. She was 7lbs 4oz so she wasn't as big as they said but she was ready to come out. She had already passed her meconium. I trust my Dr 100% but that was just lucky I think. She wasn't 9lbs+ but she was over due. This baby is measuring big too so, we may be in the same boat again.
  • Mine measured weeks bigger... My Dr didn't worry about out. They were all around 8lbs not huge.
  • My LO measured a week ahead. My cycle is also long so it was tough to pin point a due date. My doctor said that wasn't enough to change my due date and we'd only do something if I went over. My husband and I are both really tall so that could be why as well...he's just a big boy!
  • My baby girl was born at 39w6d and was measuring full term two weeks before that. They said she would definitely be a 9lb baby, but she was only 7lbs2oz and felt so tiny!
  • Ive had my diabetes test and everything was normal
