People offering food

This is not necessarily a rant because it doesn't bother me but it's just something I find odd.

I'm 27 weeks and people I see all the time seem to think that they need to feed me. They say i'm so small or that I need to eat more so that the baby can grow. They must think I starve myself or something.

The truth is I do eat alot. Sometimes more than I should. Sometimes I can't help but eat an entire box of those Little Debbie Nutty Bars. The guilt I feel from watching my ass expand is huge.

I do eat a healthy, balanced diet most of the time.

My weight gain is on track to hit about 35 lbs at the end.

Anyone else getting this weirdness from other people?

Not so much while pregnant but I remember after having my first, a random neighbor who we barely spoke to asked her entire church to make us dinner for three months after she was born. They even had an online calendar and everything.

We tried to limit it to a week- but the food kept on coming. It was very nice, but also overkill. And hubby is vegetarian and I have food allergies so we couldn't always eat the food. :/.

You could always say, "oh sorry. I just ate (insert large meal here. A pizza?)"

  • Yes! My mother says this to me. I'm happy to accept the food. I've always been very petite and she's always tried to feed me extra. I'm used to it by now.

  • Yeah I had it happen to me in my last pregnancy. It was annoying. I don't comment on your weight, why would you comment on mine? Especially when I'm more hormonal than usual? Also, it's hard bc you feel rude not accepting but half the time I'm not really interested in what they're offering. No advice, just solidarity.
  • Yes! My bosses, one of them makes sure I go to lunch so I don't starve the baby and the other worries because I sometimes take a late lunch. But the truth is I snack on fruits and veggies through out my meals so my diet/hunger is the same as pre-pregnancy. When I got to my mothers for dinner she always says, that's all your going to eat?
