Activity Check-in!

There was a post awhile back where some active moms and moms-to-be talked about being interested in a check-in, so here we go!

Weeks & days?

What are you doing to stay active?

What is going well?

What changes have you had to make?

Motivation advice?

Stay well!

What are you doing to stay active? I'm up at 4 every morning and I head to the gym. I am still doing sprint intervals on the treadmill twice a week. I have maintained my normal lifting splits 4 days a week, and then I do steady-state cardio on the 7th day.

What is going well? Since it's still early in my pregnancy, I haven't had too much fatigue, so getting up at my normal time is still as easy as it was before. With DD, I remember hitting a huge morning motivation wall around 8 weeks...so I'll be looking forward to that...

What changes have you had to make? My sprint intervals are a bit slower at the sprint section, so it's a little less like HIIT, and more like MIIT.

Motivation advice? This is my second pregnancy, and I stayed active throughout the first. It made a HUGE difference in my mood and energy throughout the day, so if you're hoping for motivation, just know that those endorphins are going to give you a boost!

I'm using Moms into Fitness prenatal workout DVDs, as well as taking walks with my son in his stroller

This week, it's been rough, between pregnancy exhaustion, a bad cold, and snowstorms two weeks in a row making walking outside impossible.

Exercising with a toddler in the house is a challenge, but the biggest changes have been trying to clean up my diet and eat healthier.

My motivation is that I'm determined not to gain 60 lbs like I did in my last pregnancy. I've lost 4 lbs and gained it back so far, so I'm at 0 weight gain . . . Also, I've heard that you can actually IMPROVE your fitness level during pregnancy. If you were already pretty active, it helps if you keep in shape. Anyway, with an infant AND a toddler at home, I'm going to need it!

    4 weeks, 5 days

What Am I Doing: CrossFit - my husband and I own a gym.  It's not my full-time job (only his), but I still run classes and it makes it easier to get in there every day.  I'm also competing in the upcoming CrossFit Open.

Going Well: Consistency is going well, and I've been feeling good.  I feel much less exhausted after I go, and I can skip my nap if I go.  It has helped not to be too nauseous yet; I have only puked at the gym once.  Woo!  :-)

Modifications: I have promised myself I will take 2 rest days or active rest days per week.  I normally can do 6-7 days per week, so I am limiting myself now.  I am also not going for one rep maxes on certain lifts and have been using less weight as opposed to more.

Motivation advice: I love CrossFit, but group fitness in general can really help you stay motivated and encouraged.  I normally go to a specific class time and everyone knows everyone's name.  They encourage me, and I know they will even more when they know I'm pregnant.  We also have two other members due in July, so it will be nice to bounce ideas and experiences off of each other.

What are you doing to stay active? Physical therapy 2x/week. Now that my perinatologist cleared me for exercise, i will be back in the gym for at least 30mins/day...i love the eliptical and circuit training

What is going well? I'm still pregnant...yay!

What changes have you had to make? Eating healthier...lots of fruit and veggies. I cut out coffee and junk food.

Motivation advice? When i feel lazy, i just remind myself how much i want a healthy baby and im moving again

Pilates 2x a week, walking, spin class, light weights. I've only gained a pound at 6w5d and attribute it to eating very healthy! Feeling a bit more tired in the afternoons but know already that staying active has been a savior in regulating hormones!

@crbpjb, that's awesome to hear you're competing in the Crossfit Open! Will people know you're expecting? Or is it soon enough that you don't plan to tell?

@LiveNLove44 it is every Friday over the next 5 weeks, so I will still be trying to keep it a secret.  I am just afraid nausea will set in and people will get suspicious, but oh well if they do.  :-)
I also signed up for a competition in June before I knew I was pregnant.  It involved a lot of gymnastics movements (handstand push-ups, toes to bar, pull-ups) so I have to check with my doctor, but I will be 20 weeks that day!  I think it will be obvious due to my small frame.  It is a partner competition, so I am going to see if he still wants to compete with me, but I won't be able to tell him until closer to 12 weeks.  We shall see, but as long as I can still do the movements I think it would be fun!

Does anyone have any at-home workouts like live streaming or DVDs that they really enjoy? It would be nice for us to have some more ideas for options as the months go on! Working out at home when I have a toddler isn't my favorite option, but if I can't make it to the gym, it is nice to have some ideas!!
