Asthma and carbs?

Has anyone heard of a relationship between baby asthma and carbs?  I'm trying to find the root cause of my one-year-old's continued respiratory issues, which we are treating with prescribed medications.  Someone recently suggested to me that I should cut out carbs from his diet.  Has anyone else heard of this?  Or in general of helping to possibly even alleviate his breathing issues nutritionally, in conjunction with his medication?
