What a night. ?Yesterday was my first day back to work after winter break (I'm a teacher). ?I got really crampy in the afternoon and chalked it up to being on my feet all day after 2 weeks of being fairly sedentary. ?As soon as I got home, I got into bed. ?Unfortunately, I continued to get sharp pains throughout the night, but did not have any bleeding. ?I finally gave in and called my doctor around 2 am. ?She suggested I go to the ER. ?Since I hadn't yet had an ultrasound, she wanted to make sure I didn't have an ectopic pregnancy. ?I was panicked. ?I cried most of the way to the hospital while DH drove and kept telling me things would be ok. ?Luckily, the ER was empty, so I got right in. ?I had an u/s done and we saw the baby and heard the heartbeat for the first time! ?I immediately started crying again, but this time they were happy tears! ?The doctor said everything looked good and the baby measured right on track! ?He thinks the pain was from the cyst that forms on an ovary in order to help support the pregnancy until the placenta develops (I didn't know anything about pregnant women developing cysts that are suppose to be there!). ?He said that everyone gets the cyst, but not everyone gets the pain. ?I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow to follow-up, but I am so relieved right now. ?My plan for the rest of the day is to lay around and stare at the u/s pics!!

Re: Just got back from ER...(long)
phew! glad to hear everything's ok calex!! I didn't know about that whole cyst thing either....gl and your appointment!
We actually weren't suppose to have an u/s until 20 weeks, so, after we left the ER, DH was joking that this was my way of getting to see the baby early! ??
Oh my gosh Calex!!! That sounds like such a scary night. I'm so glad everything looked great.
I was thinking about you the other day. I had noticed you hadn't been on very much over the holidays.
so glad to hear that everything is ok.
Aw, thanks for thinking of me, Monkey! ?You're right, I wasn't on much over the holidays. ?We were doing a lot of traveling. ?I think I went through GP withdrawal! ? I hope you're doing well!!!?

Wow, how scary. With all of these horrible m/c that i seem to be reading lately, it scares me to death. Those poor poor girls. I'm so glad you didn't have to go through that!
side note: If i'm this scared now, I don't know how i'm going to be when i actually get KTFU!

How scary, but, I'm glad everything's okay.
Lucky for you, getting into any Chicago ER quickly! We waited in the ER for 4 hours a few months ago!
