I was getting like this too and my dr suggested protein as well because it was my blood sugar just dropping significantly. Needless to say I bought tons of protein filled foods and feel a lot better. Guess just follow your doctors orders there aren't really any "tricks" to it other then do what your doctor says
I was fine up until last week at my 25th week. When I saw my ob he said it was because my heart was working harder so more than likely it's something like that. His advice was to take it slow when you feel dizzy and not move around quickly. Also if it feels like you are going to faint sit on the floor. This way you are less likely to have a concussion.
Mine was low blood sugar. I bought low cal protein shakes. And keep cereal bars in my purse.
I do the same, you'd be surprised how much of a life-saver a granola or cereal bar in purse can help. Or even a bag of almonds. I don't really get dizzy spells, but I found out around 12 weeks or so that I have hypoglycemia so if my blood sugar drops too low I become faint, very hot to the point that I sweat, get cold from sweating so quickly and then I vomit profusely. So my best advice for things in relation to low blood sugar: eat lots of protein, never let your stomach get too empty (so no big gaps between meals, if you are even the tiniest bit hungry, eat) and drink lots of water. Don't worry so much about excess weight gain, your OB should let you know if you are packing on too many pounds.
I had my sugar test done last Tuesday and on Thursday my doc called saying they needed to see me right away my blood was low. I automatically assumed they meant my blood sugar. But come to find out its my iron that's extremely low. He put me on an iron pill that seems to be helping. According to him my iron was so low that should have been freezing all the time, and beyond exhausted, also dizzy and feeling like passing out all the time. Had some symptoms, but not all. Possibly low iron?
I had diagnosed Vertigo for the past two weeks and was in bed. I had fluid built up from an ear inflection.
Just in case anyone else has ever had that it can be healed from a trip to the physical therapist. She tested to see which war was causing the vertigo, applied the Eply Manuever and I was better in two days. This isn't for sugar related dizziness, just in case someone has vertigo and is reading this.
I do have some residual dizziness and I have to stare at the wall and shake my head gently as if saying no for ten seconds and then yes for ten seconds. I do four rounds of that with breaks in between and that seems to clear it up. I should be 100% by the end of the week.
@elizab14 I had Vertigo last time this time of year and it was HORRIBLE! But I finally did the same as you ( after a week of suffering) and went to a PT and was better by the time I left the appointment. I keep praying that I doesn't happen again while I'm pregnant. FYI staying hydrated and staying away from salty foods and caffeine help with the residual dizziness.
@MrsWilson830 I hope it gets better for you soon! I get a little dizzy (different than vertigo, vertigo will make my eyes dart back and forth) too when I have gone too long without eating. I keep peanut butter in my cabinet at work and try to get a spoonful in every hour or so in between meals to keep my blood sugar up. It helps.
