(I'm thinking family name for the middle, anyone else doing this?)
Yes, all of our kids have a namesake for their middle names.
I have NO IDEA what to do if we have a third boy, though, because we don't really have another male family member namesake that we want to pass on. Have to keep thinking on that one.
If we have another girl I want my mother to be the namesake for the middle name. My mom died and since this is our last I really want to give her the honor if baby is a girl.
If we have a boy his name will be Ellar James. We also like liev (like the actor) and Theo. All names we got from actors or movies. Our friend just named their baby boy Cohen.
Our favorite right now is jack, however i hate that it's more common. .. I've had it picked out for like 10 years and hate that it recently got more popular. I also like Henry. My husband is sooo picky it's so hard to agree on boy names! We have a unique girls name ready to go though!
Me too! I've had Jack picked out for years and it also happens to be the name of DH's favorite uncle who passed away. Jack & Jackson have become so popular which I Dont like, so not sure what we'll do.
I love really literary sounding named like Charlie, Henry, Oliver, and Elliot. But we've got some great male names in our family too and we want to use one of them- Austin, Lawrence, Snow, Gordon, and Robert (I'm thinking family name for the middle, anyone else doing this?)
I like all your "literary" names, too, but they're all so popular right now. :-(. Boys names are hard. I used to like Eli, Elias, Emmett, Emory, too...but again, these also have become super trendy. Don't know what I'm gonna do!
I know! Lots of my favorites are super popular right now which is annoying. I also have a huge family, and I have some favorites which have already been used on all of my cousin's children. That's kind of a no-no right? I would like to find something different (but not TOO different). My cousin Julie just had a little boy they named Tasman, which I love! Her husband is from New Zealand, which was discovered by the explorer of the same name (who also discovered Tasmania). So it's cool AND has significance to his life, which is exactly like what I would love to come up with eventually

That is a good example of the kind of name I'd eventually like to come up with. I don't want something that sounds made-up, or like I'm trying too hard, if you know what I mean. Something that has personal significance is always good. Lately, it's seemed to me that super-unique names as well as classic names from the turn of the century are the two most trendy categories...since I don't want to name my baby something trendy, it almost seems like the best bet is to name my baby something that used to be common, like in the 60's or 70's, but that has fallen out of fashion. Nobody's naming their kids Scott or Richard or Susan or Karen these days! Anyway, Maybe I'm overthinking it ;-)
Dh and I can't come up with a boy name that we agree on. We've had our girl name picked out for weeks. My favorite name for a boy though would be Gavin Raimund. If it's a girl, Harper Grace
Carter and Micah are the top two on my list I really want a boy!!
I tried to suggest Micah but my SO didn't go for it. It is one of my favorite boy names. We had a tough time on boy names. Sounds like a lot of others are too.
We named our first son Roman, which we've only met one other Roman when DH and I had first started dating. That's when we fell in love with name and knew we'd name our son that. With that being said, it's such a strong Italian Catholic name I'm not sure how we'll be able to come up with an equally as strong name for our next son (if we have another).

I really love Elliot for a girl actually...Ellie for short. Can't seem to get DH on board though!
We are going with Wyatt if a boy, I've loved that name since college, and luckily hubbie agrees. Also doing my last name as the middle to honor my fathers memory. Other names I've always liked and happen to be family names are Orion, Lafeyette, Emerson.
We finally decided on William Gavin (he will go by Gavin) if we have a boy. Boy names are so hard! We have always loved the name Gavin and something extra cool is that my husband had a cabbage patch kid when he was younger and it's name was Gavin. We still have the birth certificate. : )
Re: boy names
I've always loved:
Sebatian
Demetri
Elijah

Now, if I can get the hubby to go with it. Lol.
