high thyroid levels

Just had to take my lil girl in for another blood test. She is 2 weeks old and the dr said that in her initial blood tests her thyroid levels came back a little high. Has this happened with anyone else? Dr won't really tell me anything until the results come back...so I don't even know what it will mean for her if her thyroid levels are high... =/

I don't know how it affects infants, but thyroid is a growth hormone and people who are hyperthyroid tend to run small among other things. It's treatable through a variety of methods. It could be just about anything causing the abnormal bloodwork. I'm sure your doc will have more information for you soon. Good luck and hoping for the levels to be harmless.

With DD her first thyroid values came back abnormal which had me terrified as I had problems regulating my own thyroid through the pregnancy. The retest came back completely normal though. We did have an urgent appt with a pediactric endocrinologist who told us signs to look for. Hope that helps, and good luck
