I was induced on the 20th at 40wks and 5 days! Went perfectly smooth and from induction to my LO's birth was only about 6.5 hours! Hope yours is going/went perfectly smooth! Congrats!
I know everyone's situation is different but how long do doctor's typically let you go before they induce? I'm 39 weeks and 3 days...50%effaced and 1.5 cm dialated. Also Doc said he's engaged and head down but still feeling like he's never going to come!
I'm being given 10 days past the due date - which I think is great. While I'm uber ready for babe to be here, it's best if he comes on his own. They cut off at 10 days over for risk of meconium.
If you're getting induced, you're going to end up with a baby. I wouldn't worry about him dropping at that point. Shift your concern to handling labor pain and a longer delivery process, especially if your cervix isn't favorable yet. Fingers crossed he'll come on his own before that!
Induction started out easy.. Foley bulb went quickly. Labored all day and didn't get beyond 4cm. Took a break from the pitocin overnite, started back the next morning... Fresh epidural, since my original one only numbed one side... Agony.. Labored for another 10 hours then ended up with a section anyway... He was too big to come down below -2 station. He's here now and gorgeous. I am totally in love.
