Stress and labor?

Wondering if anyone knows much about this...I have been under major stress this week. My mom is very sick and in the hospital. It is not minor. I tried to call my ob's office this morning but they are gone for the day. I had a lot of BH last night for about two hours straight. I get them anyway often but this was way different. I am better right now but want to go to the hospital. My family wants me to stay home for fear that I will not handle it and something will happen with the baby. I don't know what to do...thanks

  • We cannot give you medical advice. You really need to be on the phone with your doctor as soon as possible.
  • I agree with @frownyface‌ . This is something you need to ask your doctor.

I have read that if you have a lot of BH to drink lots of water and lay down on your left side BUT I just saw that another mother on here thought she was having BH and was actually having real contractions. This late in the game it is always safest to consult your doctor.

Sorry about your mother. Hopefully things get better soon.
  • If you weren't able to get a hold of your doctor call your local emerg
  • Sorry about your mom. I agree with the PPs.
  • My thoughts and prayers are with you and your mom.

  • When you write that you would like to go to the hospital I am assuming you mean to be with your mother. I would agree with you. If you mother is not in a good state right now you should go be with her. At least if you are with her than you are already in a hospital. Though if going to be with her means being on a plane I would rethink it.
  • My husband was airlifted to ICU on Thursday. Been there ever since. Our families are both out of town. Its just me and our two year old. Ive been to the hospital every day. I feel better/less stressed going there than staying home. Go with your gut. What does your heart say?
  • Thank you everyone. I did go and it did make me feel less stressed. Still stressed and worried but I needed to be with her and see her. Just praying that she gets better. It has been some really tuff days.

@drotha01I am so sorry to hear about your husband. My heart goes out to you, take care.
