8 weeks in, anyone have a bump yet?

Re: 8 weeks in, anyone have a bump yet?

  • Bloating? Constipation? Third pregnancy? Twins? I don't care about the reason. The real fact is that I can't fit into my clothes, so I am embracing the "bump". This is meant to be a happy time for all of us, so let's build each other up any way we can!

  • You don't have a baby bump, maybe you have a bloat bump but I can assure you that at 8 weeks, it's 110% not a baby bump.

To answer your other question with DD, I was 9 months before I even looked acutely pregnant.

To the original poster, even if it's bloat/crap/uterus, it's a bump caused by pregnancy. Just rock it. :) I'll rock my baby pooch from my previous two children, and even if my current babe is the size of a chocolate chip/missing tooth/chicken nugget, I'll call it a baby bump if I want. ;)

I love this and your attitude. I about died. I could hang with you, mama! PREACH!
  • While I'd love to think I'm showing, it's all fat. I'm bloated as hell.

  • Well it's very possible to be showing at 8 weeks. Even though your baby is only the size of a blueberry, your uterus is the size of an orange!! everyone is different!

Your uterus in behind your pelvic bone so no it's not. Sorry.
  • Google "fundal height" if you want to see the cool charts. Hormones can for sure cause bloating, and some people can develop a belly well before there's any baby in it. Soon we will have baby all the way up in our ribcages, but for now things are still pretty much tucked away in the very bottom of the pelvis, and if someone rubs your belly they are rubbing your intestines.

This is my first pregnancy and I'm very new to all of this. I thought maybe being part of a birth club like this would be a great outlet for support and advice but all you all have proved to me is that I can't share a question or a concern or an exciting milestone without the possibility of some rude woman kicking dirt all over me. I know not to waste my time here. So for that, I thank you.

Don't let some trolls/pregnant trolls scare you away. Everyone has an opinion on something. There are some great women on here that will give some good advice.
Is there a difference between a troll and a pregnant troll?

Thanks for being real about it.

Actually everyone's is not at this point. Someone else mentioned above that there's is not and I've had friends who's was not at an early point too so until you have a medical degree you don't know everything about every women's pregnancy all YOU know is your own!!

But I do have a medical degree.. So again you're wrong.

  • This is my second baby and I'm 4w5d and I'm extremely bloated this time around. I was not bloated this early last time. Every pregnancy is different.

I'm also in the medical field and I agree with you.

  • I'm not reading back on comments, as it appears there is drama. No thanks. I am 5w4d with my third and look as far along as I did at 18 weeks with my first. My youngest was a huge baby and stretched my muscles in to oblivion, so my normally flat tummy has bloated very quickly this time. I won't be sad when it is replaced with baby :) I look pregnant for sure since I am a thin person. Crazy!
  • I have a fairly pronounced bloat/poop belly that rivals my 2nd tri belly from my last pregnancy. I'm just hoping no one gets suspicious just yet, as we aren't planning to publicly announce for a few more weeks! And I've already been rocking the maternity jeans for a week, no shame! I didn't even really have a small bump until 16 weeks last time and even then it was a she-must-have-had-a-big-lunch belly. It really popped around the 18-20week mark.

  • I started growing very early as well. When we found out I'm carrying twins, it made sense that I was growing more quickly than in other pregnancies. Talk to your doctor if you feel like you're showing faster than you expected. There may be real factors that contribute to it.
  • Also, I agree that this is an awful board. This is my fourth pregnancy and I have never seen a birth club like this. I've seen nice people on mean boards retreat to a closed Facebook page. Just a suggestion.
  • I didn't have bloating until this week (going into week 5) and I can tell :(
  • After reading this thread, I was just thinking the same thing.

I hit 8 weeks today and I am officially joining the bloat bump club. I went to put on my jeans this morning and had to resort to the hair tie trick as I could barely button them.

Let me just say, with all the effort I've been putting into cleaning up my diet and trying to drink enough water, if my belly was this bloated for any reason OTHER than a baby, I'd be pissed. I don't care if the baby's as small as a raspberry, he/she is to blame! #Teambloat

Speaking of raspberries, now i'm craving them . . .

  • Just because someone points out that you are factually incorrect does not mean they're "mean".
  • Fact is nobody is full of Bologna. Science or not. It's rude.
  • I think some girls are so obsessed with making sure they burst someone's bubbles or excitement over their growing bodies they look for opportunities to be mean and catty.
  • I Have hit the bump club as well. Granted I am petite and have had two children (who were 9 lbs) therefore a lot if extra skin/mommy pouch but none the less it is sticking out further and further. I also have diastasis recti from my first two big babies. Thinking it's about another 1-2 weeks before it is obvious here at work.

  • I'm really shocked at the responses on here. Bloating can look like a bump, even though the baby is the size of a blueberry. The uterus has expanded twice it's size, your colon has slowed down and we are all constipated likely. Constipation tends to make people crabby. What I'm seeing on this board is a bunch of crabby constipated women;) Lets all just drink some prune juice and chill out. When it comes down to it, every woman is different and we should respect our differences. I get that the baby is small, but all the factors associated with being pregnant are indeed making some of us look like we have a belly.
  • Everyone is different..you know by your own body, by your own experience if it's typical bloated feel or an actual bump. First pregnancy can take until 4 months to actually show...thereafter a woman can start to show sooner as your body has been through it before and all your muscles In your body are ready for it. Just because others don't show until months in..doesn't mean it's the same for everyone. If a mum to be wants to think it's a bump..then go ahead and be proud. It's your body, your little raspberry..show it off.
  • Everyone is different.  First time around, the way I knew it was actually my bump (around 15 weeks) was when I rolled over it felt like I was trying to lay on a softball or baseball.

  • Also, if y'all think the comments in this thread were mean....this might not be the place for you.  I'm not being mean.  I was in the Oct 2013 Moms Club and that club was out of control.
