I've had cramps for a week and yesterday they turned very painful, every minute. Along with blood. Spent 6 hours in emergency - scans, bloods etc...dr said likely a miscarriage :-(
I have still got the painful cramps but the bloods gone from bright red to dark. And there isn't a great deal...has anyone experienced this before and do you think there might be some hope??? :'(
I have to have follow up bloods done sunday to check if my hormone levels have increased or decreased- then scans Monday....I'm so devastated. My partner has accepted we have lost our baby but I just don't want to :'(

  • Unfortunately that sounds much like my first experience, except that I had severe back pain for cramps prior to light bleeding. Dr. did the scan and confirmed no baby, just sac and said I was miscarrying. He schedule me for a D&C, but once the heavy bleeding started then I didn't need it. It was over pretty quick. The hardest part was dealing with my sadness afterwards. However negative my story may be, though, I have read a lot of positive ones on here where the mom's weren't miscarrying! When the Dr. did the scan, those mom's got to see a perfectly hearty baby! I will cross my fingers that you see in this lucky bunch of women, but I am so sorry that you have to go through this!!!
  • Very similar thing happened to me at about 6 weeks. Lots of painful cramping for an entire day and then lots of bright red blood that afternoon and night. I was up all night worried - went to the Doctor the next day and blood had slowed and turned dark but still fully expecting I had/was miscarrying but they did an ultrasound and baby dot was there, cervix was closed and everything was ok. Have had my 8 week with another good US and am now about 10 weeks, going in next week to confirm dating and everything with another US. Although both your and my symptoms all pointed to a miscarriage I can tell you that so far everything is 'normal' here. Dr. did say that intercourse and/or over taxing yourself (I was running a lot and have now slowed down) can cause bleeding and to try taking it easy. I'm sorry you're going through this - it is so hard and scary but try to stay calm, it might still be ok. Good luck and good thoughts!

  • So sorry for what you are going through. I had a miscarriage is September although I had a different situation. Prayers for you.
  • So sorry for what you are going through.  If it is, in fact, a miscarriage....I know it is devastating, but just understand that it is actually a very common thing.  The statistics say that at least 1 in 4 pregnancies will end in miscarriage.  And just because you have had a miscarriage, it does not mean that your chances for a miscarriage the next time around are increased.  I know it's probably not much of comfort right now, but maybe it will help if you think about it later.

I had a loss in January of 2012 and I ended up pregnant with my first child by Valentines Day...the very next month.  Anyways...thinking about you and hoping for the best.

  • I was just going through the same thing. I went to my OB not an emergency room. In the emergency room that is the go to message is its going to be a miscarriage. I ended up having a hemmotoma (I don't know how to spell that lol) and my doctor said that it's normal in the first trimester and should resolve by the second trimester. Try to relax, easier said than done, and stay positive. If you start having blog clots coming out go to your OB immediately.
