Thoughts and prayers please

the past few weeks have been dreadful, they've had to stop my contractions 3 separate times! I've been on bed rest, they said they don't know what's causing it, but they can't stop them again if it happens again because im 32 weeks now. They stopped them for the last time on Monday, and I am so scared! I am a first time mom and I can't help but blame myself... I wish they would give me answers on to why this is happening, maybe I would stop blaming myself? I know the anxiety isn't helping, but knowing our daughter is going to be in nicu for a month or more because of preterm labor is scaring me! My husband is scared too, he's like a zombie these days, no one is really helping me they're just like calm down relax but it's so much easier said then done! All I need is thoughts and prayers and maybe some advice to trying to help get through this, any other women having to go on bed rest or are at risk of preterm labor right now?

Re: Thoughts and prayers please

  • I'm sorry that you're going through this. I will pray for peace for you and health for your baby girl. I know that it's hard in moments like these, but many moms would have been very thankful to get to 32 weeks. I hope she'll stay in a little longer! Hugs!

  • Prayers to you and your hubby!! I have no advice to offer, just best wishes to your family! ❤️
  • Hugs and warm thoughts. I know the NICU is scary, but 32 weeks is such a good spot to be in from a development standpoint. Hang in there.

  • T&P for you! Try to think positive no matter what happens. This time of life is very nerve wrecking and if you don't stay positive, you may feel worse. Good luck!

  • Prayers to you. If you wanna talk, let me know! I'm a preemie mom. My son spent 5 weeks in the nicu. He was 30 weeks when he was born. I'm high risk this round because of it. We don't know what caused it. Just went into ptl.
  • I'm sorry you going through this.... Thought & Prayers for you and your family.

  • Same boat here! FTM. Currently 30 wks 6 days. My water broke last weekend at 30wks 2 days. Hanging in the hosp on bedrest with constant amniotic fluid leaking and contractions. Toured the nicu the other day. Scary scary scary stuff, but hang in there! 32 weeks is a lot better than 26 and babies do very well at this age!!! The initial surprise is terrifying but the outcomes at this age are great! Hardest part is facing the fact that you will be leaving the hospital without your baby. Just have to trust that they are in good hands and all will work out! Stay strong!!!!
  • Praying for you. Im sure it's not easy to relax. Stop blaming yourself because none of it is your fault. Try to stay positive. I know there are still risks at having her at 32 weeks but the chances are better now then they would've been a few weeks ago. I'm sure she will be a healthy baby :)
  • Praying for you, your husband, and your precious little baby. Let's hope she stays in for as long as she can!

  • Sometimes there isn't an obvious reason of why your uterus just won't settle down :-( for whatever reason your uterus is a little more irritable. Is your cervix closed though? You have most likely been getting terbutaline or magnesium to stop the contractions, but are you also on procardia to relax your uterus while at home? Drink tons of water and stay on your side. Thoughts and prayers to you- I have been on bedrest since 28 weeks and am now 32 5/7, my last child was the same situation and I didn't end up delivering until 38 5/7 with her.
  • I'm in a similar situation and I know it is hard. I was just released from the hospital on Tuesday for preterm labor. That makes my third hospitalization for this pregnancy (26w, 29w, 33w). Each time I was given medication to stop contractions and this latest time was given steroids for baby's lungs. The first two trips showed no dilation, but on Tuesday I was told that I'm dilated to 1-2cm. I'm now home on Bedrest with procardia every 4 hours around the clock. Once I hit 36 weeks (2.5 weeks to go) they will take me off all meds and Bedrest and it's pretty much game on for whenever baby girl decides to come. I'm not overly concerned because I went through the exact same thing with my son. I was hospitalized at 33 weeks, Bedrest until 36 and he was born 2 days after I was taken off Bedrest. So this is pretty much a repeat of last time. My son is now a healthy almost-3 year old and at 36 weeks he was great - had no issues whatsoever and came home 2 days after delivery. Just do what the doctors tell you and although it's frustrating, just know that you really can't control it. You just have to accept what happens and know that pregnancy is one of life's greatest mysteries!!! Hang in there momma and know that you're doing the best you can.

  • Baby and you will be just fine. I know it's hard not to worry but we are so lucky to have the technology and doctors to keep us safe and healthy. Right now focus on being calm, stress can bring on labour. Practice breathing, paint or draw, play games on your phone. Just keep your mind busy while resting. I know it's easier said then done but you have to push your self into a positive frame of mind for you and her. I have read on this forum that a lot of women are delivering at 32 weeks and babies are doing good! Your doing all you can, do not feel guilty. Some things are out of our control. Hang in there and rest up :) x
