Need some safe tea!

Hey ladies! I am not drinking caffeine, mainly because it makes me jittery...but I have been craving some tea during this freezing weather!! I find a lot of mixed information online about what herbs are safe and unsafe during pregnancy...does anyone know some specific brands/flavors that are safe?? Besides the obvious "pregnancy teas"...

Re: Need some safe tea!

  • The naturopath at my local health food store was really helpful for me. I just explained what I was looking for and she picked one out for me ( I needed a safe one to reduce fluid retention)

  • I got the Lipton Lemon & Honey. From what I can see.. it appears safe. I have been pretty lax about all the "dietary restrictions" a lot of people go by, however.
  • Roiboos tea has no caffeine.
  • I drink the herbal fruity teas. Most of them have no caffeine. Plus they are safe to drink.
  • Any commercial tea is just fine. It's the tinctures & herbal (medicinal) strength brews that are to be avoided.

Commercial herbal teas brewed properly are fine.

  • So what about celestial seasons tea that contain hibiscus? I heard hibiscus is a no no?
  • Rooibos tea is caffeine free, safe, and comparable to black tea. If you like Chai tea, try that! It's very close to the 'real' thing.
  • Peppermint and ginger tea are the only teas I drink because I can never remember the safe list, and some of the herbal warnings are pretty scary (though I absolutely hate and mostly disregard all the fear mongering around pregnancy).
