Pregnant after IF

Apologies - missed FTM check-in

I'm sending my apologies for dropping the ball on the FTM check-in that I run.  I started with good intentions, but Thursdays often get away from me.  Now that I'm on the heartbeat and contraction monitors 3x/day, I go from the monitor at 6 am to my MFM visit w/ u/s starting between 7:30 & 8:30, at which point, I'm already late to log into work, and spend the rest of the day playing catch up. I'm thinking of moving the check-in to Fridays.

The other thing is that I dread copying the participant lists into a new thread.  The new character limits at TB are frustratingly hard to predict.  I wish I could think of another way - the whole thing makes it feel like more and more of a chore.

Anywho, that's it.  It got away from me Thursday, I had every intention of doing it Friday, but just forgot, and didn't log in all weekend.

Frankly, I think splitting myself between two communities, I don't feel as connected to either.  Or maybe I'm in the 7 weeks in a hospital bed funk.  There are an awful lot of threads here that I can't relate to, because, I'm just not having that kind of pregnancy.

And, here's an awesome thing - they just announced a code red on the 8th floor of another tower.  I'm pretty sure that's a fire.  I hope its small, because its snowing pretty heavily outside, which will delay FD response times.  I feel pretty safe on the 2nd floor of a non-adjacent tower, but still, this place could be mayhem soon.  Oh well, I'm ambulatory, and my door's already closed, so, I'm cool.  Oh, I can hear the sirens now.  This totally makes me miss being a firefighter.  I'd so much rather be trudging throw snow in turnout gear right now, than laying in bed, trying to see what type of engine the local company has... eh... it's an E-one.  I was hoping for American LaFrance or Pierce... .whatevs, taxpayers never appreciate the more expensive makers.  You'll all just pay more for it in maintenance, down the line.  Not that I'm telling you what to vote for, or how to spend your money, but a fire engine is an investment, meant to protect your home and family.... alright, local taxpayers not reading this?  Alright.  So long as I've made myself clear.
Hmmm... they only rolled one engine.  Either they were already on standby for the snow storm, or they know this is not a big call.

Ok, enough with the play by play, people who probably couldn't be less interested.  Wish I could check out their equipment.  It's been so long since I left my company, I'll bet they make all kinds of cool equipment now that they didn't have back then.
My life was so much more interesting, once.

Re: Apologies - missed FTM check-in

  • Well, that was quick. All clear - and they're opening patient doors again.  If it was anything to begin with, it was probably knocked down with an extinguisher early,  Either that, or it was only just a smell of smoke or false alarm to being with..... or, what we used to call, "smells and bells."  *sigh* I miss the FD.

alright, crazy, non-bump related ranting over.  Is it weird that I just want to smell my old gear now?  (Yeah, it is - that stuff smelled pretty dirty most of the time).

    sorry.  again.  Carry on.

I'm glad everything is all clear with the code red/fire! We were wondering where you've been (on the other site- that's where most of us are hanging out now). It's hard keeping up with both sites, so I chose to mainly participate on the other and just check in here every now and then. It sounds like you're in a funk- I'm sorry :(. I would be too if I were in your shoes. But just think about how far you and the babies have come in the last 7 weeks- you've made it to your second round of steroid shots! And on the up side, you only have another 4 weeks to go!!!

And kudos to once being a firefighter- how long ago were you one?

ETA: and don't worry about the check in, you're getting close to induction day so maybe someone else can take it over?

  • No need to apologize!  I think with things being a little quieter, it's not a big deal if the check-ins aren't exactly on time.  I've had a hard time with 2 communities too, plus I have some Facebook groups to keep up with.  I end up being on Facebook and here more.  I also feel that as we get into the late 2nd tri/early 3rd tri weeks, it's such a routine, there isn't a ton to say until we get closer to the due date.

And I second what @sunshinedasies000 said - although we may be having a different experience, know that we are always here rooting for you.  I love seeing your updates, as boring as they may seem to you.

Your play by play is more exciting than any play by play I would have today. For example:

I ate half of my mac & cheese, face planted and slept for an hour (drooling a bunch on my pillow), woke up and at the other half. Then I had DH refill my water bottle and get my mozzarella sticks from the fridge and I drank water and ate mozzarella sticks.

I wish they were doing road work or construction outside my window so I could watch all the people running around.

ETA: Not to minimize the boringness of being stuck in the hospital, but to highlight how exciting your update is :-P

    ***siggy warning***

    Me: 29; DH: 53
TTC since February 2013 --- mild thin PCOS (or not, depending on which RE you ask), MFI

    IUI#2.1: BFN (July 2014; Letrozole 2.5 mg x5 days, Bravelle 75 IU x4 days)

Moving on to IVF. (Why we're moving on to IVF)

IVF#1 (w/ICSI): BCP 9/9-9/23. Gonal-F, Ganirelix, Low-dose HCG (antagonist protocol). 41R/35M/32F... 2 transferred on 10/14, 14 frosties! On cabergoline to help avoid OHSS. BFN, possibly because of 90% drop in estrogen and progesterone a few days after ET.

  • @tweetyknicks that may not be as exciting, but it is a delicious play by play

  • @AMShark‌ I've been stalking for updates...mostly at 3am when I'm up nursing. I am sooo happy you're stuck in the hospital still. Weird to wish you one more month of it? You get it. Bed rest sucks and it sucks worse in the hospital, but it's amazing how far you've come! I want to see blanket pics! The play by play was pretty good, and I'm always impressed by firefighters :)
    Married 2007
    3 Clomid IUIs -- BFNs
IVF #1 never made it to transfer
    On "egg health" cocktail DHEA/CoQ10/FRC/Pregnitude/Melatonin
Starting IVF #2 for Feb 2013
    Follistim/Menopur/Ganirelix
Cancelled mid-cycle due to high P4 levels early on.
OCPs again for IVF 2.5 mid-March. IVF 2.5 transferred two "gorgeous" 5-day blasts and BFFN. Even REI is baffled
On indefinite hold until a huge stroke of serendipity led me to IVF 3 May 2014
Testing found positive cardiolipins/APS, now on lovenox and intralipid infusions
Transfer of 2 5-day blasts and (FINALLY) BFFP!! 1st ultrasound shows two sacs and two HB, but one is sluggish, almost expecting vanishing twin Subsequent ultrasound confirmed vanishing twin, but my other Little critter looks fantastic!
