My LO has been sleeping in her own room since day one. She's 11 weeks. Took her couple weeks but she finally started sleeping pretty good getting six to nine hours out of her at night. This went on since she was three weeks old and now she's 11 weeks and all of a sudden waking up every three to four hours. She'll eat a few ounces, get a new diaper and fall right asleep. She's not sleeping extra during the day just takes a morning nap,an afternoon nap and then will fall asleep in the car but nothing really has changed. I can't complain because a four hour stretch isn't too bad just came out of no where all of a sudden.Any advice?
Re: Sleep changes!
Consider yourself lucky mama! It sounds like if she's eating extra she's having a growth spurt. My experience with DS1 was that as he got older, his growth spurt periods disrupted his sleep more and more. She's only 11 weeks, but it is possible she's going through the "4 month sleep regression" a bit early. This is when their sleep cycle becomes less like a baby and more like yours (more frequent periods of light and deep sleep). It wakes them up easily and they have to learn to put themselves back to sleep - all you can do is comfort them, stick to what you've been doing (don't introduce sleep crutches like excessive rocking or nursing back to sleep every time they wake-up) and wait it out. For a growth spurt, they wake to eat because they are hungry. It will pass. With sleep regressions, it's a challenge, but all you really can't do much to change it - it's normal and all babies go through it.
