Ready or not...(here he is!)

My water broke this evening. Now I'm in L&D hoping to keep Baby Will gestating a little bit longer. If he doesn't arrive by Wednesday, though, when I hit 34 weeks, then they will induce me. This is due to the risk of infection with the loss of amniotic fluid. So I will be on bed rest in the hospital until I deliver. Please send good thoughts our way! And happy Valentines Day.

Other than a massive headache from the magnesium they're giving me and not having slept for 24 hours, I'm doing really well. I just had an u/s and Will is looking good in there. He still has plenty of fluid left, and heart rate and practice breathing are good. Thank you so much for all the support, ladies! I really appreciate it

@DeerHunterBride‌ she said the same thing on the other post about someone's water breaking today. And something about poster being lucky I think. I'm hoping she's just young and really not this insensitive and ignorant.

Updates? Hope everything is still going well

Baby is still looking good, and they were able to take me off the magnesium sulfate, finally, which was making me feel all kinds of awful. Best of all, I got some sleep! Which really is the best thing for me and Will, and was making my reaction to the meds even worse. I was up for almost 48 hours and finally H crawled into my hospital bed with me (very carefully) and gave me some much needed snuggles and Valentine's kisses, and I was finally able to drift off. Sometimes love really is the best medicine.

My parents are both coming in from the east coast. My mom on Monday and my dad on Tuesday. Hopefully Will can hold off until then. I'm still wrapping my brain around the fact that I won't get to hold him right away, breastfeed right away and room-in with him, but I know that I have to be grateful that we are in good hands and that, had he arrived earlier, his odds would not have been nearly as good for not only survival, but development. The NICU RN who came to talk with us had her daughter at 33 weeks, and by 18 months was pretty much caught up. Every baby is different, of course, but having also known some amazing adults who were preemies, it's reassuring to know that, while it may be a little challenging and slow-going at first, Will will still be capable of great things. And man will he be loved!
