I am new here too. I guess I am also confused. I could google almost anything and find an answer. I thought the point of this is to interact with those going through or who have gone through similar experiences.
I apologize as my post is off topic and I do not have any experience with temp.
Not that I am bothered or offended by it, but an example I see right away of how someone more sensitive than me might think you are mean is when you say things like "five seconds of research would confirm..." Clearly my question was simple. I know that. I know how to research. I know it would take about two seconds to Google my question and find a reputable website to answer. That's not the point, though. It's more enjoyable to find out information while also reaching out to a "community" of sorts (hopefully still the case). Does that make sense?
Seriously? "Five seconds of research.." would hurt your little feelers? If that's the case, then maybe you need to look at yourself and say "Yeah, okay - I have thin skin." It's okay to have thin skin, by the way. I have it, too. But, you can't possibly change the way the world works. You can't change how people respond. You can - however - change the way you respond to it. You have to learn to roll with the punches and that means hearing both positive and negative responses. That means reading "You could've figured this out with five seconds on Google," and thinking "Yup, that's actually right."
You will be wrong at times. You will be right at times. That's life. Instead of putting up all these walls and defenses, maybe go into any situation thinking "I will probably learn something here and someone will probably point something out that I hadn't thought of before. I will go with the flow and not dig my heels in demand only the answers that I want."
But who do you think sits on the other side of the computer screen and answers those easily researched questions? Do you not see how annoying it is to be asked the same thing over and over again?
Yeah, I see where you are coming from. I see it both ways. On one side, you know, you don't have to answer, free country, blah blah blah. However, on the other side, it is a waste of space to see the same questions over and over and you could miss the good ones.
It's hard being new because you don't know that. And it's like, even if you THINK you read through enough posts/conversations, you find out new things that you did wrong. So, I guess the best piece of advice is to just observe for a while before jumping in. It's hard when you're extroverted!!!
Anyway, I must fit in better with the "other" site because, fresh out the gate, I've got my first warning from TB. For recommending that someone Google a term to find out what it means. YIKES!!!

That's just so fucked up.
