Hi all

I've been having a lot of pre-labor symptoms.  The LO 'dropped' last Thursday and I've been having to use the bathroom a lot since.  Last night was pretty crappy.  I'm having some sort of contractions but they're not regular or painful.  I'm a little anxious because I want to make it till Saturday at least, when I'll be 37 weeks.

QOTW:  We know better than to go out to dinner on Valentine's Day in Houston.  The restaurants put in a lot of effort but they really become overwhelmed.  We were planning on doing a cook-out at a state park on Saturday or Sunday as a combination Valentine's and DH's birthday celebration.  His birthday is around my EDD and I thought we could celebrate in advance.  But given how I feel, I don't think it's gonna happen.  I just hope LO doesn't have a Valentine's Day birthday!  That would totally suck.

Hi ladies,

I'm 8 weeks along today. We had a scan on Monday and there was a good strong heartbeat, and baby was measuring exactly right according to my dates, so that was nice to breathe a little sigh of relief.

My morning sickness is almost the same as last time when we miscarried, so that's making me feel anxious.

Either this is how my body does morning sickness now (noticeably less intense than with DD1 and 2) or it suggests something else.

However, for now I'm focusing on the positive.

QOTW: no real plans for Valentines, we talked about going to a movie, but we'll prob just see how we feel on Saturday.

Hi everyone

I'll be 12 weeks on Sunday.  I finally get to go for my first OB appt. on Tuesday.  I can't wait to hear the heartbeat and have some reassurance everything is going well and start sharing the news with people.  I'm feeling less nauseas, so that's a good thing. 

My DS2 has had a stomach virus this week which now DH has.  We usually don't do anything for Valentines Day and for sure won't if half the family is sick!

Hi Ladies - 

I can't remember if I posted here, but our son was born on Jan 31st at 10:49am weighing in at 6lbs, 6oz and 19 inches.  Little A had a rough first week - lost a lot of weight, etc but now is doing great.  We met with an amazing Lactation Consultant and since he gained 5oz from the Tues appt to Thurs, and then another 9oz to yesterday's appt.  So the Dr is no longer concerned and we don't have to go back until his 1 month!

I can't believe he will be 2 weeks on Sat!  Time is flying.  It is definitely exhausting but we are loving every minute with our little boy.

QOTW: My parents are here and we offered many times to have them go out to dinner (and then we would have dinner just the 3 of us at home) but they refuse.  So we will all order in something.

Congrats @Lady2010! Sounds like your little guy is doing great.

I am now 13w 2d pregnant, and I have an appointment today with the Maternal Fetal Group at the hospital for prenatal testing and hopefully an ultrasound to confirm my dates (and see the little nugget!). I have had a rough time (nausea, vomiting, caught a cold), but have been feeling better these last few days. Hopefully that will continue.... but don't I say that every week? Ha!

I have told most of my close friends, but today I think I'm going to tell my one friend that has been undergoing fertility treatments for over a year. I'm kind of dreading it. She just underwent another transfer a couple of days ago and is waiting to test. Any words advice?

For Valentine's Day, my mom is babysitting our DD and we are going out for a nice dinner just the two of us. I can't remember the last time we did that! We're both pretty excited.

@betch78 - best of luck to you.  I will tell you what my BFF did that hurt me very badly.  She sent me a text (THAT part was perfect) while I was sitting in my RE's waiting room (not her fault, just bad luck), and went ON AND ON about how she wasn't trying and how upset she was she was pregnant and how she'd cried for weeks because she and her hubby had unprotected sex once and got pregnant.  Huh.  So, I had to console her while my heart was hurting.  I think she had a misguided idea that making sure I knew she wasn't trying would help.

In all seriousness, my advice would be to just tell her, let her know you know she's struggling, and continue to offer her support.  One thing that has gotten my friendship back on track is that my friend keeps asking me how it's going.  She wants to stay in the loop of my journey even though she has a lot going on in her life.  This may not be what your friend wants, but just give her the support she wants and needs.

@NeonNoon Congrats on making it to 37 weeks!

@KateLouise they say ever pregnancy is different and the symptoms are such a poor predictor of what's going on... so glad that you saw a nice heartbeat!

@Lady2010 can't think of a better valentine's day!

27 weeks here and we haven't really done much to prepare, so i hope we'll do some of that this weekend. We're having a major plumbing and mold issue fixed in our apartment, so while that goes on we've been staying in a hotel. Not uncomfortable, but not ideal, esp. when i have to go to the bathroom and flush five times a night while my husband tries to sleep a few feet away.

I can't wait to be back in the (clean and repaired) apartment by next weekend so we can finally start to get organized.

@betch78 - I have a sister who has been unable to have children (they've had 3 rounds of unsuccessful IVF and have, as far as I'm aware, chosen not to pursue further procedures).

It's been really hard to tell her when I've been pregnant especially as we got pregnant very easily.

I don't know that I ever got it right. Can you ever? The reality is that as pleased as this person may be for you, they will have their own grief and hurt.

With DD1 I phoned my sister and I did say that I knew it must be difficult for her to hear the news (because I didn't want to be all gushing about how happy I was) She ended up crying. And although it was ok and we talked about it all, I think we were both glad when the conversation was over.

With DD2 I emailed her, on the advice of some people with fertility struggles. That seemed to go ok. I guess it allowed her to process and respond in her own time.

With this pregnancy, I'm not quite sure what I'll do. I normally wait until after the 12 week scan but my sister is coming to visit when I'm 11 weeks. I think I might email/message all my siblings in a group thing before they arrive. So that I'm not singling out my sister, but that she can hear the news and process before they get here.

Anyway best wishes with your friend. It's hard for both of you.

@emsmama15-- thank you for sharing with me. I'm sorry your friend hurt your feelings that way, but I imagine it was completely unintentional. After my dad passed away, I had a couple of friends say really insensitive things to me. It hurt, but after a little time I realized that they honestly thought they were helping. Glad you two have been able to move past it.

@katelouise -- thank you for your advice. It really is helpful. I didn't have a chance to talk to my friend on Friday, and now I'm wondering if an e-mail would be better so I'm not putting her on the spot.
