Heartbeat on doppler for twins

Hi, has anyone had their doctor pick up 2 heartbeats on doppler BEFORE finding out you were having twins?

Re: Heartbeat on doppler for twins

  • Not here. Ours were IVF and we had an ultrasound to know they both stuck long before we would have heard the HBs on the doppler. Our twins have very distinct heartbeats on the doppler, so it is easy to differentiate them, but even now they are small enough and close enough together that if they had similar sounds, I would probably not suspect there were two.

  • Same here....my twins are IVF twins.  We are thrilled, but also scared.  Twin pregnancies are higher risk then singleton pregnancies.  We transferred 2 only because it took us 5 fresh cycles to get our DD (only 1 egg was retrieved) and this time around we only had 2 make it to transfer.  1 was an 8 cell minimal fragmentation, the other was a 6 cell with more fragmentation.  Our RE didn't think it would make it to freeze so we transferred it.  We were really surprised when both stuck!

  • Hi! I'm new to this board and am 20w4d. We had my anatomy scan 2 days ago (no previous ultrasounds) and found out we're having twin girls! We had two previous appointments where heartbeat was checked but our doctor didn't even look around for two. It was an extremely exciting surprise!
  • they would be too close together at the time. Later on, it is very possible to tell them apart, but not for everyone. Our tripletSwere IVF, so we knew very early, but I couldn't definitely pick up each one individually at home after 12 weeks or so

No periods due to 17 years of ballet and distance running after college.  Zero response to 2 months of Clomid, little response to Letrozole.  IUI left with 9 cysts = too many viable eggs due to age.  On to IVF.  Low dose of all meds still produced 37 mature eggs 12.6.11.  Froze due to overstimulation.

    FET #1.1 1.22.12 BFN.   FET #1.2 2.22.12=GRACE! (and a vanishing twin).

FET #1.3 3.2013 BFN FET#1.4 4.2013 BFN. Never tried a fresh transfer.  Let's try, despite 10 still frozen.
ER 6.26.13 27 mature eggs, slight overstim. ET   7.1.13 ectopic, FET 2.1  9.10.14   TRIPLETS!!

  • jnkane.....how very exciting!!  Congrats on your twin girls.  I hope when I go for my US they see 2 babies!!   I guess this will probably be our last baby and now I'm worried that the baby will have no one to play with.  Our older 2 kids will be 14 and 11 when this baby is born!
