TTC after 35

Intro (loss and children mentioned)

Hi,

I've been around the bump for years, but will be new to your board. I've lurked a bit and thinks it's a better fit for me then the TTC drama board again.

We aren't technically TTC #3 for another couple of months, but I'm resuming temping, etc in anticipation (I hope it's ok if I hang out now).

Hubby is 36, and I am soon to be as well. He is a wonderful SAHD and I'm a surgeon who works too many hours. We have 2 beautiful children. DD is 2yo and DS is 7mo. We had an early loss before becoming pregnant with our daughter.

I'd love to continue to lurk, and throw in my occasional 2 cents until we start TTC in ernest (5 month count down), but it you would rather I wait until then I respect that and will re-introduce at that time.

  • Feel free to stick around! We aren't picky - at one point we even had a (gasp!) 34-year-old in here.
Me: 38 DH: 40 TTC#1 (and likely only) since 9/13. Saw RE 5/14, SA good, AMH 2.36, FSH 7.2, estradiol 69.6 indicating good egg reserve. Using OPKs. First Letrozole cycle 6/14, a burst cyst and a BFN. Second Letrozole cycle 7/14, BFN.

Update 11/14 - had laparoscopy 10/28, good news is that my uterus and left tube look good, and they were able to drain the cyst on my left ovary. Bad news is that right tube and ovary have endo and scar tissue, so they're pretty useless.. Best news is that we finally have some answers and a path forward. Taking 7.5 mg letrozole CD 2-6 to put that good left ovary through its paces.

UPDATE 2/2015 - We switched to another fertility clinic, but fortunately we don't have to start all over. We're doing two cycles of Clomid plus IUI, if neither of those take, we'll do IVF in April, potentially with ICSI. (DH's SA has gone downhill, likely due to excessive exercise.) IUI#1 2/25/15....
  • Welcome. This board is by far the best!!!! Please stick around now, no need to wait until you are actively ttc. We have several members who are benched. We offer support to all.

Just have to say wow to you being a surgeon. My brother and I were just talking about woman surgeons. He programs pace makers so he works with surgeons every day and has only met one woman so far. I found that amazing that there are so few (heart surgeons).
