Re: Manic Monday!

  • My gripe is that AF is here in full effect. I almost took the day off from work bc the cramps were so bad, but they seem to have subsided.I am in a crap ass mood. It will be a wonder if students make it out of my classroom alive today.  It almost feels like my body is making fun of me each month.

    What!!!! Its Monday again already.
    Well my olaf cake came out good this weekend.
    Not a lot going on this week. Just a bunch of rug rats to take care if and I have another cake for Sunday. It's for a 30th birthday. I really don't like doing grown up cakes. The kiddie cakes are so much more fun to make.
    Well here is a pic of olaf.

  • Oh my gosh.  I love that cake!  *** Child Mentioned *** My daughter adores Olaf.  She has a little stuffed Olaf and Olaf blanket that she sleeps with.  Hmmm. Second birthday idea maybe.

    My gripe - apparently strep throat at 40 wasn't enough - now I have a runny nose and can feel the bronchitis coming on.  Oh, and a negative beta and I'm in a craptastic mood.  UGH!  Time for a nap...

  • @hooigans4 amazing!

    @emsmama15 I'm so bummed for my buddy :(

    @dwmmwd sorry AF sucks the big one

    I have a new laptop.  I received it for Christmas but I was holding on to the old one because I couldn't adjust.  Well, old one died big time on Saturday.  So I'm on my new one and the keyboard is so sticky and weird, I'm struggling!! This is officially a first world problem gripe.

  • Hugs to you @emsmama15‌ for negative betas. I was still holding out hope for you.

  • @hooigans4 very cool cake!

    Monday.... ughh.... I think my DD got me sick. We spent the whole weekend trying to get her to eat (not very successful) Im guessing she had the gross head/throat cold I am now experiencing so no wonder she wasn't hungry. But when they cant talk its all just guessing games. She was feeling better this morning however so I took her to day care. Crossing my fingers I don't get a call, but she had no fever and was drinking lots of milk. Just no apatite yet. WHY is it so hard to be a working mom I guess is my gripe. Anytime DD gets sick I have to stay home so my work really suffers. I wish we could afford to be a single income family but we cant yet. So I just end up doing a crappy job at work because I have to drop the ball a lot and its frustrating. I wonder how long before they get tired of me and find a reason to let me go, hmmmm....
  • I think we need to make a Monday thread just for @hooligans4 cakes. They are fabulous!

    @dwmmwd BOO about AF and I am sorry she being such a B to you.

    @emsmama15 I am sorry about the betas.  :(

    And sorry to our sick ladies. I will join your guys. I have been sick since Friday.  Still enjoyed my weekend.  SO pulled 18 hrs of cooking on his smoker. Rainbow trout, beef brisket, boiled peanuts, muscles, beef sausages oh and about 3 lbs of bacon...ever had bacon from a smoker??? A lot of the food has been made into soups or bagged up and frozen for dinner this week.

  • @sonpetitlapin‌ I'm so jealous you have a smoker. That is one of my dream items. The funny thing is I'm a vegetarian. But I love cooking meat for my boys and from what I hear there isn't anything better than smoked meat. And from looking at your pictures that meat looks great.

  • @hooligans4 The smoker came with the man....and he wonders why I keep him around. His smoker has a very distinct taste, it gives the food this smokey and  distinct sweet taste.  I have had other smoked foods and by far his smoker has the best flavor.  What is great about it, it is not just limited to meat.  You can do veggies on it too.  We love vegetables especially eggplant.  He will bake the eggplant for a few minutes and then throw it on the smoker.  He has also thrown it in a iron skillet with tomato sauce and cooked it right on the fire in the box.

  • sonpetitlapin mmm, that meat looks good! wow. I am so hungry right now.
    @hooligans4 Love that cake. I have to admit, not having kids and mostly dealing with middle schoolers I didn't know what Olaf was. I'm like, is that a type of cake? I got it when I saw the pictures and deduced from other messages. Ha.
    @emsmama15 sorry about the beta.  Fingers crossed that there's still hope. Not too familiar with all that.

    Monday blues...I have been struggling for the last week with a UTI and antibiotics don't seem to be helping fully so I'll probably need to end up back at Dr later in the week. Then this morning I woke up to what felt like a wisdom tooth coming in. It's a mistery to me cuz back in college I had two removed and dentist said I did not have the other two. So if that is what's happening, it came in really late out of the blue...otherwise, I guess it could be some other kind of infection....lucky me.
  • Between the cake and the smoked meats i am getting hungry reading this thread! They both look fabulous!

    Sounds like there are some bugs/illnesses going around - hope everyone starts to feel better!

    Sorry about AF @dwmmwd and the negative betas emsmama15 :(  Bummer start to the week. Hope your week gets a little better.

    No monday gripes for me. The weekend always goes too fast, but hopefully a good work week ahead.

  • Hey Ladies!!

    My monday grip is i put back on the 5 pounds i lost 2 weeks ago. Why you ask? Because Hubby wanted to do this super strict 21 day reset diet. It was super healthy, vegetarian and pretty good for the most part. I realized that what I have been saying for years is probably true....i could live without eating meat. The problem is i don't lose weight on it :( Needless to say when we stepped on the scale...he did first and was down 6 pounds. I was so excited to get on.....and then HUGE disappointment. Yeah I quit right then. Decided to enjoy the baby shower and girls night out and now i will plan to get back on what works for me for losing....LOW CARB. Oh and I officially can't eat another cucumber again for who knows how long.....there were a lot of those in the  garden salads, nori rolls and just cucumber & tomato salads....toooooo many!

    My other small gripe is my house looks like demolition zone right now.....but its all gonna be for the best. New paint and floors happening!

    @Hooligans4 WOW!!! That is an amazing cake! so pretty!

    @dolphin012 yeah for no gripes!

    @smd1225 I hope you feel better :(

    @Dwmmwd Boo at AF!

    @emsmama15 Sorry to hear about the betas....i hope you feel better :(

    @kindershlitz I totally understand that...lol. When I went from PC to Mac it was a pain. You will be used to it before you know it!

    @rspalding001 I hope you feel better too! sounds like its going around!

    @sonpetitlapin thanks, now I'm hungry! I hope you get well also!

  • I'm adding a gripe.
    My son puked all over my new Berber rug last night!!!! Spent an hour scrubbing the rug at 1am then couldn't fall asleep. Oh and I had just gone to bed when he threw up. So no sleep for me last night. I actually had caffeinated coffee this morning. I stopped caffeine two years ago. I'm running on autopilot.

    @hooligans4 Oh man I stopped caffeine too about 2 years ago when we started TTC #1. Since about a couple months ago I've picked it back up however, only in the weeks before ovulation. I have no idea if it matters or not but after I "O" I stop until AF arrives. I love it so much! The first cup made me feel all light headed and dizzy ha ha, it really is a drug I guess. It will be bittersweet when I stop again for good once #2 is on its way ;)

    Sorry for the rough night! Hoep the rug is OK and your work at 1am was worth it!
  • Late to the thread, and I'm on vacation this week so not much to vent about.

    Darn, that cake is amazing. I could never get a cake like that for a party because I'd be standing in front of it swatting away anyone trying to cut a piece. Seriously though @hooligans4‌, Beautiful work.

    I haven't successfully cut out caffeine, ever. Thankfully the studies of it and TTC/pregnancy don't really support cutting it down or out. So I enjoy my morning, noon, and sometimes night coffee guilt free.

    Sorry to hear about AF and negative betas.
